I was pleased when I discovered the recent press release by #𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 https://lnkd.in/gjCK9WME. It is an encouraging sign of an organisation in tourism recognising the need to engage in gender equity issues in the work environment and in its country’s #socialfabric. I always point out that #tourism is a microcosm of society, with the #hospitality industry in its midst. Both are industries where #humanconnection is at the core of their business and where gender issues can be observed clearly in many ways. To function most effectively in any workplace and the web of life overall, there is a growing need for new insight and #skills. This includes a greater sense of #mindfulness, which for me involves asking questions, starting with: Are we mindful, and if so, what are we mindful of? It is #relationalmindfulness, as I keep pointing out, or indeed critical mindfulness that is needed - in the workforce as much as life in general - to address the systemic #genderdisparity, #socialpolarization, and #emotionalrecession evident around the world.

"Employment in Japan has changed!" 1. Lifetime employment was the norm. 2. Focus was largely on company loyalty. 3. Gender inequality was persistent. Exactly! Now it's a skill-based labor market. 1. Individual skills are more valuable than ever before. 2. Companies are adapting to the changing values of workers. 3. The shift has the potential to positively impact women. Finland emerged as the happiest country in the world for the 7th consecutive time. India is ranked at 126th. People of Finland were asked, "What makes them happy?" Here’s some of the insights: The world's happiest people opt for public transportation and live minimalistic. They don't need luxury brands, high-end cars or fancy bikes to show off their success. In fact, 87% of Finns reported that nature is important to them for peace and energy. To check the honesty level of citizens, "The Lost Wallet Experiment" was conducted in various cities of the world. Out of 12 wallets dropped in different places in Finland, 11 were returned to the owner. This was the highest among all countries of the world. - Low corruption - High social support. - Free Education - High Gender Equality - Inclusivity, safety & honesty Finland is not a top country for scientific advancements or organizational productivity, but it is the happiest country because of its values. The social and political environment is reshaped, making happiness a state priority rather than an individual priority. #Finland

In a recent article by Japan Times, the journey of women in Japan's workforce is illuminated, showcasing both progress and lingering challenges. Since the implementation of equal employment laws in 1986, we've witnessed a significant shift, with more women joining the workforce and breaking barriers previously dominated by men. Decades ago, women like Masako Owada were a rarity in Japan's elite diplomatic corps. Fast forward to today, women make up nearly half of each entering class of diplomats, reflecting a positive shift towards gender balance in traditionally male-dominated fields. Despite these advancements, challenges persist, particularly in balancing work and family responsibilities. Long working hours and cultural expectations often weigh heavily on women, impacting their career advancement and personal well-being. Efforts by employers to support working mothers, such as offering paternity leave and flexible work arrangements, are steps in the right direction. However, more can be done to address systemic issues such as workplace culture and gender biases. As we continue to advocate for gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace, let's work together to create a future where all individuals, regardless of gender, have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed. As Japanese society changes, traditional expectations of masculinity clash with modern realities in Japan, leading to anxiety and social problems among men. This is an interesting discussion point, I feel, and this article explores these key points: 🔴 Men feel pressure to be the sole breadwinner, despite women's growing workforce participation. 🔴 Deeply ingrained social norms discourage men from sharing domestic duties and expressing emotions. 🔴 This disconnect contributes to low parental leave uptake, high suicide rates, and feelings of inadequacy. I #InspireInclusion by ensuring everybody by Mazars in Japan has equal chance to be heard and promoted, whatever gender, colour, religion or nationality. It is not about just hearing what they have to say...it is about creating the condition for a real and transparent dialog.
