Don’t ever tell me a “family” work environment, or work/life balance isn’t important I’m thankful for my time with my Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees family. They reminded me that I can be amazing at both jobs! #LeadByExample #StrongWomenDo #LeadershipMatters

Work is just one chapter in the larger story of our lives. As someone who spent a lot of time working when my kids were young, I understand the challenges of balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Now, I encourage everyone on my team to take time for themselves and their families whenever possible. Attend your kid's baseball game, enjoy a family dinner, or simply take a break. I recognize that many of us wear multiple hats—parents, friends, students, volunteers, and more. It’s important to create an environment that nurtures the whole person, not just the employee. Those who feel valued and balanced bring their best selves to work. This leads to higher engagement, increased productivity, and a positive atmosphere—a win-win for everyone. P.S. What’s one thing your workplace does to support your overall well-being? Tell us in the comments! #WorkLifeBalance #HolisticLeadership #EmployeeWellbeing #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #BalancedLife

🌟 Promoting Inclusivity Through Employee Appreciation 🌟 At the City of Green Bay, we understand that one of our greatest assets is our diverse and hardworking team. That's why we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated for their unique contributions. This spring, we organized an employee appreciation bowling event that went beyond just celebrating hard work. It was a moment to bring together individuals from various fields under one roof, fostering camaraderie, unity, and healthy competition. In our vast organization, where teams are dispersed across various domains, it's essential to create opportunities for interaction beyond work-related tasks. These events, such as the recent bowling tournament, not only serve as a platform for recognition but also as a powerful catalyst for building meaningful relationships across departments. They are a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, where every individual's unique contribution is valued and celebrated. By planning and executing such activities thoughtfully, we not only acknowledge the efforts of our employees but also strengthen the fabric of inclusivity within our organization. These moments of togetherness, like the recent bowling event, are not just about celebrating hard work but also about fostering a sense of unity and appreciation for each other's unique contributions. They are the building blocks of our culture, paving the way for future collaboration and success, a culture we can all be proud of. I am only now posting about this event because I recently visited our Parks and Forestry Division during their workday and saw the tiny Hulk bowling trophy turned into something beautiful! A team comprised of Park employees won the bowling tournament. They repeatedly told me how much fun they had, and they took their win a step further by making the trophy more impressive and meaningful. So here you have it: A group of employees who somehow keep up with the maintenance of 60+ parks throughout the City of Green Bay are also incredibly creative and thoughtful individuals who created a trophy to be coveted. #EmployeeAppreciation #Inclusivity #Teamwork #CompanyCulture #GreenBayParksDivision

🌟 Embracing Camp Culture in the Workplace 🌟 Today, I had the joy of visiting our kids at sleep away camp, and it got me thinking deeply about workplace culture. Camp is all about camaraderie, care, and being part of a community that’s both fun and inspiring. As leaders, why can’t our offices and companies evoke that same spirit? Imagine if our workplaces felt like summer camp every day—where camaraderie isn’t just a buzzword but a daily reality. How do we create that kind of environment? 🌿 Inspiration: Encouraging a culture where everyone feels inspired by the mission and values of our organization. ⚡ Energy: Fostering an environment that energizes and motivates us to give our best every day. 🎨 Creativity and Innovation: Breathing creativity and innovation into our daily routines, encouraging bold ideas and out-of-the-box thinking. Let’s challenge ourselves to build workplaces that embody the spirit of camp—where every team member feels valued, supported, and excited to contribute. Together, we can create communities where work doesn’t just happen, but where it’s a place we look forward to being a part of every day. How do you envision fostering this kind of culture in your workplace? #WorkplaceCulture #Leadership #Innovation #Creativity #Teamwork #Inspiration #community #camprobinhood

In a world where work and personal life often intersect, a culture that supports work-life integration becomes a competitive advantage. Respecting each other isn't just a courtesy; it's the foundation of a healthy workplace culture. Profit is essential, but purpose gives meaning to work. So...what is culture? On the most basic level, Forbes defines workplace culture as, "The core values, belief systems, attitudes, and the set of assumptions that people in a workplace share." Do the following words describe the "daily grind" of working at CENTURY 21 Northland? ► Friendly ► Collaborative ► Respect ► Family ► Motivating ► Integrity ► Comfortable ► Supportive ► Professional ► Positive ► Challenging ► Celebrate ► Gather Input ► Diversity of Thought ► Rewarding 100% yes. The best words, however, come from those who live this day in and day out the CENTURY 21 Northland REALTORS® and Administrative Staff. A Garden of Teamwork Strolling by this garden, I couldn't help but think about how much it looks like a great team. Just like these flowers, a team blooms best when everyone brings something different to the table. 🌸 Here's what this patch of earth can teach us about working together: - Every flower is unique, but together, they make a pretty awesome view. It’s the same at work—our different skills and ideas make our team strong. - Flowers don’t all bloom at the same time, and that’s okay. At work, we all have moments to shine, and times to support others while they do. - For a garden to thrive, it needs the basics: soil, water, and sun. In our teams, we need basics like trust, a good chat now and then, and a pat on the back to keep us going. Let's make our workspaces like this garden—colourful, lively, and growing every day. . . . #teamwork #workculture #growtogether #diversity

It's no secret in the zoo industry that successfully acquiring a good position in a zoo or safari park has become harder to achieve. When you are looking for a position in a zoo or safari park, you need to remember that you are not just choosing a job in a zoo, you are also choosing the parks leadership. So the question is, how do you know if the parks management is one that you want to work under? And what type of questions should you be asking? One good way is to ask someone that works in the park. This is now a very easy thing to do through social media. With so many people on so many different forums we can now very quickly reach out and ask about a zoo or safari park. The next thing is to work out what you should be asking. A few basic questions could be. Does the management of the zoo give recognition for others work? Does the park value staff input? What about staff’s professional growth? Does the management care about you as a person? Do they support staff, and not just supervise? Are your personal hours protected or do they call on staff out of hours? (remember work-life balance means something) Does the management lead from the front lines or are they staying safe in their office and very rarely seen? If most of these questions have the right answers then you should be looking at a park that has a decent management in charge. Remember that great leadership is one of the best things in a zoo or safari park because they can be transformative for your career within the zoo industry. timhusband2005@gmail.com ♻️ Repost if this resonates with you.
