I’m sitting on a plane to New York City, reflecting on this wild journey called entrepreneurship. One of the biggest mistakes I’ve made as a founder is thinking I was alone. When things got tough, I turned inward instead of reaching out to people who had been through it. That mindset almost broke me. Year 5 of business has been a challenge (more on that later), but this year, something changed. 1. My mindset 2. My people —and the impact of that is bigger than I can even see right now. Last year, I woke up every day expecting the worst, and sure enough, that’s how things went. But this January, I knew something had to change, so I flipped the switch. Now, even when things get tough, I hold onto a mantra that Suzy Murtha-Joeckel Ⓥ 🌱 shared with me: "Borrow my confidence in you." This year, I feel it in every part of me—OXB is going to be bigger and better than ever, and I believe in this business with my whole heart. The biggest difference? My circle. I’ve chosen to surround myself with positive, supportive people—mostly fellow entrepreneurs. I’ve sought out mentors who get it. I never want to feel alone again. The truth is, none of us have to. We’re all in this together, way more alike than different. In June, I came across Dream Ventures on Instagram—a group of women all hustling to grow their businesses, looking for investment, and believing in what they’re building. Led by Kelley Arena and Annie Evans, it just felt right. One of my best (and maybe worst?) traits is that I go all in when my gut tells me to. So I did. And now, here I am, flying to NYC to celebrate finishing the program. Last week, I made the top 5 of our virtual pitch competition, and tomorrow, I’ll be pitching live to investors, angels, VCs, and my peers—for the first time ever. Special shoutout to the Power To Pitch, Kat Weaver and Katie Dunn for helping me prepare for tomorrow. No matter what happens, this is a win. These moments make you stop, look back, and realize how far you’ve come. I've had many cheerleaders this year, and I'm borrowing all of their confidence. I’m proud of the Laura on this plane. This is just the start, and I can’t wait to see where OXB Sweatproof Jewelry goes from here. Keep going. #EntrepreneurLife #FounderJourney #DreamVentures #PitchDay #WomenInBusiness #OXB #CelebrateTheHustle
