Can we achieve net zero targets with the existing energy talent pool available? ⚡️ While working on our latest client mandate, our internal researcher, Jessica Tran, has shared the 6 emerging trends she’s noticed while qualifying energy talent: 1️⃣ It’s a skill-short market. That is clear. Even with an easy-to-sell position, and a stellar organisational reputation, difficulty remains. 2️⃣ While candidates are available in wind energy, they’re often reluctant to move elsewhere. 3️⃣ Some candidates will only consider a new position if it involves working on a larger portfolio or across multiple renewable energy assets. 4️⃣ Interestingly, candidate referral levels are low across the entire market. 5️⃣ There have been considerably more cross-industry talent transfers, with forward-thinking organisations recognising this benefit early. 6️⃣ Other organisations turn to internal, existing team members to fill talent gaps, offering opportunities to upskill and progress within their careers. In the face of a skill-short market, demand is increasing. Recognising transferable skills across industry capabilities is essential – and something we have been doing at North Search since 2015. If your organisation needs help to get in front of the key talent necessary to retain your market position, we can support you. We offer no-commitment advice and support, always. Renewable Energy or Green Energy is helping to reduce emissions and move us to a lower carbon world. Billions of dollars are being spent on green technology as organizations strive to find carbon-neutral solutions. This is leading to a global skills shortage, as well as a demand for new skills that we are yet to understand. To help address the rising cost of talent and increased demand for specific skills, a multinational renewable energy company engaged our services. They needed to understand more about the size of talent pools in specific locations, competition for talent across niche technical skills, early careers and long-term talent pipeline growth along with costs.
