The "Valley of Death" in innovation, TRL 4 to TRL 7, is a critical phase where many promising technologies falter due to insufficient funding, resource constraints, and market readiness. For instance, the early development of electric vehicles faced this challenge: industry struggled with innovative prototypes, scaling production and securing the necessary investment to bring their products to market. The successful navigation of this valley required not just overcoming technical barriers, such as battery efficiency and manufacturing processes, but also demonstrating market viability and building consumer trust. Companies that manage to cross this difficult phase can transform disruptive technologies into mainstream products, as seen with EV’s eventual success in revolutionizing the automotive industry. Effectively managing the Innovation Valley of Death is essential for turning groundbreaking innovations into viable, commercially successful technologies.

The #innovation strategy is a decisive lever for Antolin, as it enables the company to increase the value of the business and ensure sustainable growth. The 2023 Integrated Report describes how Antolin wants to play a lead role in the future mobility through its Transformation Plan. With 450 companies dedicated to automotive parts manufacturing, generating a whopping €𝟮𝟬.𝟱 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗷𝗼𝗯𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀, the industry is a powerhouse of economic activity. But here's 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿: 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗴𝗶𝘂𝗺'𝘀 𝗥&𝗗 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. These dynamic SMEs are at the forefront of revolutionizing the automotive landscape, spearheading developments in electric engines and battery cooling systems, propelling us towards a sustainable future. However, there's more to the story. Despite automotive manufacturers driving nearly half of the innovation efforts, they contribute just around 30% to the total value added in the production chain. 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱𝗹𝘆. With Belgium's unique challenges, including high labor costs, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀.
