Zakwan Jaroucheh and I had the opportunity to meet with Joanne Cherry, the MP from Edinburgh South West, recently. Last year we made one of the best decisions yet. Applying to compete at the Santander X UK awards. After a gruelling battle the field of 1560 applicants came down to the top 12 in the UK. We were fortunate to be among them. The interaction with Joanne and Fraser Thompson was organised by the amazing team at Santander X. Thank you Jonathan Powell, Louise Fairleigh, Polly Harrold and the rest of the Santander team for making this happen. The other finalist from Scotland, Natantis, represented by Maïwenn Kersaudy Kerhoas, joined us for the meeting. Do follow Natantis and Radhe Shantha Kumar and their amazing work. Zakwan and I talked about LastingAsset, an exciting new spinout from Edinburgh Napier University's SCEBE, which aims to stop impersonation fraud using cutting edge cryptography and privacy preserving tools. Joanne was very interested in our solution and shared how this form of fraud was affecting people in her constituency and across the UK. She told us about cases she had seen first hand, where people lost their life savings and were traumatised by scammers pretending to be someone else. She was very supportive of our initiative and encouraged us to keep pursuing our vision. It was a very inspiring and engaging conversation. Thank you Santander, Joanne and Fraser for making it happen.
