I usually keep my LinkedIn posts to software development and app/API security. Still, I am so proud of my youngest (of 4) daughters, who follow in her mom's footsteps (Jennifer Maccherone), and of my footsteps by pursuing a tech career as a UX designer. Her first real-world project was to create a community-oriented vibe for a grocery store that the city of Atlanta sponsors for the disadvantaged. It's great to see Austen Maccherone get professional fulfillment and a sense of service to the community simultaneously!
What if a grocery store could do more than just provide food—what if it could foster connection, build resilience, and strengthen a community? That’s the challenge I embraced this quarter at Savannah College of Art and Design thanks to an inspiring opportunity presented by Atlanta’s Mayor Andre Dickens and SAVI Provisions. My team and I were honored to present our vision directly to the mayor, SAVI, & IGA. As a UX designer, I focused on laying the foundation for intuitive, inclusive, and human-centered experiences, ensuring the concept could genuinely serve the people of Atlanta. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible collaboration of students from our Industrial Design, Interior Design, and Advertising teams, whose diverse talents brought depth and innovation to every aspect of our work. I’m profoundly grateful for the trust SAVI and Mayor Dickens placed in us to explore this vision, for the expert mentorship of Professor Owen Foster, and for the relentless creativity and dedication of my teammates. To contribute to meaningful change in Atlanta has been both an honor and a deeply rewarding experience. #SCAD #UXDesignForGood #AtlantaCommunity #Collaboration #HumanCenteredDesign #DesignForImpact
That is super cool! Well done Austen Maccherone (and by extension Larry Maccherone)
