Our role as consultants is to help solve business challenges and our Wavestone cyber capabilities were very much at the front of my mind when I read today's report in MedTech Dive, highlighting that 'more than a third of healthcare organizations aren’t prepared for cyberattacks.' Additional survey results highlighted that: - 30% of healthcare organizations experienced a cyber attack in the last 3 years - About half of healthcare organizations that experienced a ransomware attack said the breach impacted patient data — and 34% said they failed to recover the data after the attack. - Over the past five years, there has been a 256% increase in large breaches reported If you'd like to read the article in full, I've included the link below and if you'd like to find out how you can protect your company, please get in touch. https://lnkd.in/ecMwDixB #medtech #cyber #healthcare #wavestone #wavestonelifescience

Ransomware attacks on healthcare organizations have significantly impacted patient care, with nearly half of the attacks leading to disruptions in care delivery. A survey revealed that 70% of these attacks caused delays in procedures and tests, 65% resulted in increased patient transfers, and 22% were associated with higher mortality rates. These attacks have not only jeopardized patient safety but also forced hospitals to invest more heavily in cybersecurity measures and consider cyber insurance to mitigate financial risks. Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting smaller healthcare organizations that often have less robust cybersecurity defenses. This trend has driven healthcare providers to enhance their cybersecurity practices, such as implementing multifactor authentication and conducting rigorous risk analyses. Additionally, training employees to recognize and respond to phishing and other social engineering attacks is critical in defending against these threats. https://lnkd.in/eD8JP8C8 #healthcare #databreaches #datasecurity #cybersecurity #cyberattack #healthcaredata #ransomware #hipaa #phi #pii
