Let’s Briefly Chat About Careers/Employment Fairs… Please stop wasting your time at employment events by handing out a generic, vague CV that's not tailored to the specific organisation/roles. It doesn't impress anyone, especially if it’s as weak as the example I posted yesterday which I've posted below - I see these every day, often word-for-word verbatim 🙄). Instead, your focus must be on building connections. Engaging with the careers fair staff, adding them on LinkedIn, and following up after the event. Once you've explored these avenues, you can then send them an amazing CV that’s customised to address their needs and the role you're after. That makes sense, right? However… If you’re set on a specific company or position, and they are at the event, do take an already tailored CV (or a few - easily done with simple keyword changes). But remember, the real game-changer is in the follow-up. Generic CVs don't solve problems; they create them. Tailor your approach, or risk being overlooked.

Why Was the NYC CareerMD Job Fair a Huge Letdown for Candidates? Answers: https://lnkd.in/g2CtE6nQ #CareerFair #JobSeekerChallenges #NetworkingOpportunities Hey everyone! 🌟 I wanted to chat about the recent CareerMD Job Fair we attended in NYC on September 6th. Honestly, it turned out to be a complete flop! 😞 Here’s why: Low Attendance: Can you believe that for the first two hours, there were around 50 recruiting tables set up, and not a single candidate walked in? The event organizers predicted about 400 candidates would show up, but our estimate is that fewer than 100 actually did. That’s just disheartening for everyone involved! Poor Organization: When you go to a job fair, you expect certain things to be in place, right? Well, they didn’t even provide name tags for participants! This made networking awkward and frustrating—how can you connect with potential employers if you don’t even know each other’s names? All this resulted in what felt like a total waste of time, money, and effort. 😡 It seems like others have had better experiences with events put on by companies like Practicelink. So, what do you think? What could have made the CareerMD Job F...

Today I attended the spring careers fair ‘Your Future Festival 2024’ organised by Careers and Employability, University of Liverpool which is the last career fair before I graduate in Sep 2024. Here I am sharing the useful tips I follow for each career fair 1. I get to know the employers attending beforehand through handshake website 2. I research about all employers and shortlist companies relevant to me 3. I will read more about these companies to start up with a conversation with the employers directly in the fair 4. On the day of the fair , I approach these companies and have a good chat with the employers there asking about relevant opportunities and try to create an impression 5. Some employers may ask to register interest through forms or else we can get a link for their career website 6. Always remember to collect names of the employers who came to career fair 7. Connect with them through LinkedIn after the fair and send a private short message thanking them for their time and about my interest again 8. Before applying a job or getting shortlisted for a job , the essential thing is NETWORKING !! It may sometimes seem not that useful but anytime in the future this networking can help 9. Check their career website links and apply for relevant opportunities (some roles will open only after a year but still we can get access to these roles ) #careerfair #liverpool #tipsoftheday #networking
