Thanks to IMPAAKT Magazine for this interview on our growing sustainability practice at Cooksey Communications! With #EarthDay around the corner, I salute all business owners and decision-makers across industries who actively integrate sustainable practices into operations to conserve resources and preserve ecosystems. 🦦🐟🦀🦪🪺🐻🐾🌱 Over one-third of biodiversity in the U.S. is at risk of extinction, which makes #sustainability leadership not only the right thing to do but also a strategic move, considering that: 💵 78% of recent survey respondents reported that sustainability concerns are important to them when choosing to buy a product or shop at a retailer. 🏆 98% of companies on the S&P 500 index published sustainability reports in 2022—a signal to suppliers that setting sustainability goals is key to staying competitive. 💪 Sustainability is linked to resilience—including brand resilience through enhanced trust and loyalty. Communicating and reporting on your initiatives, and engaging stakeholders along the way, are essential to maximizing impact. Our supercharged sustainability strategy is here. Today we launch a new, overarching approach to sustainability, Choices for Change. The new strategy connects directly to our Purpose: To be the change for good food and a healthy future and there is a unique combination at the heart of our approach: long-term investment within farming communities combined with a robust foundation of supply chain excellence. Doing what’s right for communities and the planet is critical to our long-term commercial imperative to deliver the highest quality ingredients to our customers. So sustainability has to be central to our overall strategy. Our goal is to be the preferred partner for positive change, delivering traceable and sustainable products to our customers. Our new strategy closely aligns with our customers-centric focus, to create long-term value for them. And there it is... our second Sustainability Report! 🚀 Sometimes doing something for the second time can be more challenging than the first time. 👊 Whereas 2022 was pretty much about setting our goals and doing an initial status check, 2023 was the first full year focused on execution and measuring our progress. Some key achievements compared to last year: · We conducted our first double materiality assessment to refine our sustainability topics and structured our report and data according to CSRD guidelines. · We included our full scope 3 emissions in our greenhouse gas calculations and had this externally verified. · By this, we could measure an impressive 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions since 2019, exceeding our target of 25% by 2025, mainly due to our progress on product circularity and expansion of local production. · We increased revenue from sustainable products to 60% of our 2023 revenue, with 20% being reusable and 40% compostable. · We reduced the weight of single-use plastics sold by 52% since 2019. · We achieved a first employee Net Promoter Score of 9.2. · And we significantly increased the number of audited suppliers and associated corrective action plans related to ESG.
