MULTISENSORY APPROACH TO TEACHING READING 🔶 Tactile reading: Use sand, rice, or shaving cream to practice reading. 🔶 Sensory bins: Fill bins with beads, rice, or sand and hide words or letters. 🔶 Reading scavenger hunt: Find and read words in different environments. 🔶 Audio-visual reading: Listen to audiobooks while following text. 🔶 Finger tracing: Trace words with fingers to reinforce phonemic awareness. #linkedinfamily, which of these strategies have you tried? Multisensory activities engage multiple senses (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile) to help children with dyslexia learn and retain information more effectively. #specialeducationtuesdayswith Vicky Wilson-Woko #eylinitiative #dyslexiaawareness #multisensorylearning

The Simple View of Reading PART III Language Comprehension is one of two components in the Simple View of Reading (WR x LC = RC) model. This is our ability to see words in a text and know what those words mean. Language Comprehension is composed of: •Vocabulary •Background Knowledge •Syntax •Verbal Reasoning •Literacy Knowledge Students with #dyslexia are often strong in these areas in early #elementary, but often start falling behind their peers as they stop reading to learn. An excellent way for students to develop these skills is by listening to audiobooks and read-alouds of texts in a wide range of topics and styles. Learning Ally and Bookshare are excellent resources for audiobooks. ____ #LearningFoundations #SensoryProcessing #SanAntonio #Education #StudentGrowth #LearningCenter #EducationalSupport #EarlyChildhoodEducation #GrowthAndLearning #SanAntonioKids #SanAntonio #Texas
