I remember visiting Chile earlier this year when Calmsie was announced as a World Summit Award winner. What stayed with me wasn’t just the recognition, but the conversations and the real stories behind all the projects - the ways they were impacting communities, solving real problems, and creating meaningful opportunities. Half a year later, I’m stepping into a new role as a jury member for the upcoming WSA Global Congress in India, an event that unites startups, social entrepreneurs, experts, and thought leaders from over 80 countries to explore digital solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The projects we’ll be evaluating aren’t just about tech for tech’s sake; they’re designed to drive real impact and action. Here’s what we’ll be focusing on: 🔹 social impact – solutions that don’t just aim for change but visibly improve lives by addressing tangible, real-world needs 🔹 local empowerment – projects that embrace local strengths, working alongside communities to tackle their unique challenges. 🔹 tangible outcomes – it’s not about hype; it’s about measurable results. We’ll be looking for projects that demonstrate they can get things done. I’m excited to be part of this journey and to see what transformative solutions will emerge in 2025! What an incredible journey at GEC+PR in San Juan, Puerto Rico! As I reflect on this transformative experience, I'm filled with gratitude and inspiration. First and foremost, a huge thank you to the organizers of the Global Entrepreneurship Congress, from @company_genhq. Your dedication to fostering entrepreneurship globally is truly commendable. Jonathan Ortmans, Cristina A. Fernandez, Garry Lyon Jr, CSM, William Charter, Matt Smith, Cecilia Wessinger . Some key takeaways that will stay with me: - Uniting entrepreneurial agents from across LAC provided us with a stronger common ground for more in-depth discussions about our shared challenges. - In the era of AI, experiences matter more than content when addressing educational challenges. - The challenge of aligning long-term entrepreneurial success with shorter political cycles - a crucial aspect for effective ecosystem building. - The urgent need to bridge the early-stage funding gap in Latin America. We have the talent; now we need to nurture it! - The transformative power of AI in education and entertainment. Thursday on Capitol Hill, I announced the National Inclusive Innovation Strategy. We've been working to this strategy for the past two years, expanding inclusivity and participation within the USPTO, for those practicing before us, and, importantly, for U.S. innovators, entrepreneurs and creators. As we think about achieving the United Nations #SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), we must feel a sense of urgency for not only advancing tech, AI and innovation policy that encourages innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity and fair and active competition, but also that opens the doors more widely for all to participate. Our team has just started the Science2Business program by INNOV8 Innovation Center! 🧬💼 This incredible initiative aims to support Ukrainian scientists in monetizing their research and transforming innovative ideas into successful businesses. We're thrilled to be part of this journey! 🤝 The program is a project of Seeds of Bravery, implemented by INNOV8 in partnership with Aalto University, EIT Health, and Erasmus Center for Entrepreneurship, with financial support from the European Union through the European Innovation Council. 📚 Over the coming weeks, we'll be diving into: • Fundamentals of entrepreneurship • Design thinking • Creating viable products • Idea promotion and business communication • Idea validation • Business model structuring 🔍 Through lectures, workshops, hackathons, and mentoring sessions with experienced speakers and mentors, we'll be honing our skills and refining our project. 🎯 The program culminates in a pitch event where we'll present our idea to potential partners.
