𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬: 𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 🧬 In a recent study, normal pig kidney epithelial cells (LLC-PK1 line) were observed undergoing mitosis using laser scanning confocal microscopy. These cells were labeled with mEmerald fluorescent protein fused to microtubule EB3, a protein binding to the positive ends of microtubules, and mCherry fused to human histone H2B, highlighting the chromosomes. One of the most distinguishable phases of mitosis is metaphase. During this critical stage, chromosomes attach to the kinetochore microtubules and align in a single plane, known as the metaphase plate, midway between the spindle poles. The kinetochore microtubules exert tension on the chromosomes, causing them to move back and forth in rapid, erratic motions. This dynamic setup prepares the spindle-chromosome complex for the next pivotal event: the separation of daughter chromatids. Metaphase, a crucial stage in mitosis, occupies a significant portion of the cell division cycle. Understanding this phase is essential for comprehending the intricate mechanisms of cellular division and the maintenance of genetic integrity. #CellBiology #Mitosis #Microbiology #Microscopy #CellDivision #ScientificResearch #LifeSciences #Genetics #Biotech #STEM

🌟 Exciting Kickoff to the Next GynGeneration Symposium! 🌟 🔜 Introducing the first session of «Bridging RNA Biology and Therapy: Exploring the Frontiers of Advanced Medicine» that will take place on the 9th and 10th of October 2024. 🧬 Our initial session is called «Functional ncRNAs and RNA modifications in development and disease» and will be divided into two sections. The first one named Noncoding RNA will explore the significant roles these RNAs play in physiology, development, and disease. The second one, RNA Modifications, will delve into how RNA modifications introduce functional diversity and regulate gene expression, influencing RNA structure, interactions, and metabolism. We will discuss how these modifications enable rapid responses to environmental changes and their implications in disease pathogenesis, including cancer. 🔍 Explore the whole program here and don’t forget to submit your abstracts before September 2nd, 2024: https://lnkd.in/drymNztB #RNABiology #Therapy #RNA #AdvancedMedicine #RNAInsights #ScienceEvent #CIMA #Pamplona #SymposiumProgram #Innovation #Research

🔬 HeLa cells have great value for different experimental studies. ⬇️ The video below was taken by Sabine Reither, European Molecular Biology Laboratory, EMBL, and shows mitosis in live HeLa cells stained for histone 2B-mCherry (magenta), GFP-tubulin (green) and GFP-tubulin (white, deconvolved). 💡 These processes were imaged with the Bruker InVi SPIM Lattice Pro and is a great example of the benefit of using light-sheet microscopy for investigating 3D cell cultures. #microscopy #lifesciences #biology #WomenInSTEM
