As the pulp and paper industry undergoes significant transformations, the challenges faced by longstanding mills are evident. Many of these facilities, established in the early to mid-20th century, struggle to keep pace with evolving industry demands. Today's consumers prioritize sustainability and customization over the traditional focus on low cost and standardization. While cost remains a crucial factor for consumers, the shift towards tailored solutions necessitates agility and innovation from producers. Adapting quickly to meet the needs of customers is paramount in harnessing creativity. An apt analogy lies in the evolution of delivery systems from locomotives in the early 20th century to modern drones capable of delivering orders to precise GPS coordinates. Embracing change and fostering innovation are key in navigating the dynamic landscape of the industry. By staying responsive to consumer preferences and integrating advancements in technology, companies can position themselves for success in a market driven by sustainability and customization. #PulpAndPaperIndustry #Innovation #Sustainability

Give credit where credit's due. One of the main reasons I went into Additive Manufacturing in 2017 was the promise of a resource-efficient future. Making just the amount of parts you need, at/or close to the location of demand, with less waste and decreased supply chain and logistics were compelling arguments to get my engines going. With its new SAF technology and ReLife PA12 material, Stratasys is taking the necessary steps toward achieving a greener, resource-efficient state. Up to 89% Lower Carbon Footprint: A Fraunhofer IPA-led LCA study revealed a substantial reduction in the carbon footprint of AM using ReLife compared to standard PA12 production. Significant Cost Savings: Service bureaus like Wehl Green have reported up to a 20% reduction in total cost per part by utilizing ReLife and are moving towards the circular economy goals. Enhanced Material Efficiency: By reusing waste powder, the ReLife minimizes material waste and maximizes resource utilization. This is no longer a baby step towards resource-efficient and sustainable manufacturing, this is real and tangible! #sustainability #AM #stratasys

ALD‘s EBuild® 850 is a new player in #AdditiveManufacturing, complementing our leading inert gas atomizers for the production of high-quality spherical #MetalPowders. By combining large-scale powder production with our EBuild® systems, we are further advancing E-PBF (electron beam powder bed fusion) as an economically viable technology for industrial applications. A common challenge in metal powder fabrication is managing rejected powder that doesn’t meet the required size specifications for modern powder bed systems. Without a solution, this rejected powder can end up as waste, contributing to environmental concerns. To address this, #ALD has developed an innovative powder recycling process using additive manufacturing. The EBuild® 850 system can process powders with a broad distribution range, making it ideal for both large-scale part production and #recycling. By utilizing E-PBF to create powder-filled #ingots, the system achieves build rates exceeding 1000 cm³ per hour—setting a new industry benchmark. These ingots can then be converted back into high-quality powder in ALD’s #EIGA systems, helping to promote a sustainable circular economy. In addition, this approach also offers safer, more efficient handling of powder, as the powder-filled ingots are easier to manage and store than loose powder. ALD is dedicated to advancing sustainable practices in the industrial sector, leading the way toward a greener future. Don’t miss to meet our ALD Experts at #Formnext2024 next week.
