Today, I’m reflecting on the bold path laid out by industry leaders to achieve net-zero aviation by 2025, which was shared at the Aero Club of Washington. Their ambitious roadmap hinges on expanding sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) usage and developing electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered aircraft. These efforts require a collaborative ecosystem involving companies, government agencies, and educational institutions. Michael Amalfitano of Embraer Executive Jets highlighted the importance of partnerships in scaling up SAF and electrification. Embraer’s initiatives range from 100% SAF tests to electric ag-plane trials and hybrid-electric technology. Scott Lewis at World Energy shared how they’re working toward producing a billion gallons of SAF by 2030 and scaling their California and Houston facilities. Billy Nolen from Archer emphasized the value of government policies and investment in driving sustainable aviation technologies. Archer’s Midnight eVTOL aims to redefine accessible flight, thanks to federal support and regulatory collaboration. It’s inspiring to see how far-reaching partnerships are essential for pushing these innovations forward. To achieve net zero, we must invest in training a skilled workforce and foster cooperation across the supply chain, government, and academia. Let’s work together toward a cleaner, greener future for aviation. #NetZero #SustainableAviation #FlySkylink

The aviation industry is embracing greener practices, and FCS FINLAND solutions are playing a pivotal role in this transition. Here's why: 🔹Reduced environmental impact: our technology minimizes unnecessary burning after engine shutdown, significantly lowering post-flight emissions. This is crucial as we strive to meet stringent sustainability targets. 🔹 Enhanced engine efficiency: even small improvements in engine cooling translate to notable fuel efficiency. This not only cuts operational costs but also supports airlines in meeting their environmental goals. In the recent demonstration with SAS - Scandinavian Airlines for the LEAP-1A engine, dry motoring consumed over 30 kg of fuel, resulting in a notable increase in maintenance costs, which are avoided with AFC cooling units. Read the story: https://lnkd.in/djWBYxP4 🔹Support for regulatory compliance: with mandates like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive in the EU, airlines must report CO2 emissions. FCS helps by improving fuel flow efficiency, thereby reducing emissions and potentially lowering costs associated with emission trading. 🔹Extended engine longevity: by addressing specific engine challenges, FCS contributes to prolonging engine life. This is a win-win for both sustainability and operational efficiency. 🔹Airport noise and emission reduction: implementing FCS at airports reduces post-flight emissions and promotes the use of quieter ground equipment, such as the AFC-22e, supporting cleaner and quieter local environments. As the pressure mounts on the aviation sector to enhance sustainability, FCS emerges as a key enabler. It not only boosts operational efficiency but also aligns with diverse environmental targets across different operators. Delighted to have moderated a panel on sustainable aviation and how the industry can achieve its goal of “jet zero” by 2050. Lots of ground covered from Sustainable Aviation Fuel to hydrogen and electric aircraft. Joe Benson, from Boeing, summed up the issues well: “There’s no silver bullet technology or policy. It’s going to take the whole of the industry, academia, governments, everybody working together and collaboratively.” #aviation #Sustainability #SustainableAviation #SAF #Ebace

Last week European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) released an industry update on "How to make operations more sustainable" 📃 This piece goes over the range of solutions needed to achieve aviation's carbon-neutral goal in 2050: SAF, contrail mitigation, ground ops, ... One major area of improvement is operational efficiency. 💬 As EBAA puts it "Empty legs can be reduced through better scheduling and coordination, and employing advanced algorithms to optimise aircraft utilisation." ➡ Curious about what this means for a fleet of charter or private planes?
