Irish ULCC Ryanair plans to cut its German flight offering by an additional 12%, which equals 1.8 million seats and 22 canceled routes, for summer 2025. Ryanair will close its bases in Dortmund, Dresden and Leipzig. The airline will reduce Hamburg services by 60%, Berlin services by 20%, and will reduce services by 10% on other routes. In a February interview with Aviation Week, Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary told me, “We are very content to see German traffic fall. We would like to see German traffic fall for another year or two, [and] air fares rise dramatically for a year or two. And that [after two years], we think the German regional airports will come to us and say, ‘please Ryanair fly in here. Airports like Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Bremen, Nurnberg.’” My story now at the Aviation Week Network #hofmannaviation #luftfahrtexperte Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline Boeing ACI EUROPE Ralph Beisel Julian Jäger Airlines for Europe (A4E) #Ryanair Andreas Gruber #Boeing
