Irish ULCC Ryanair plans to cut its German flight offering by an additional 12%, which equals 1.8 million seats and 22 canceled routes, for summer 2025. Ryanair will close its bases in Dortmund, Dresden and Leipzig. The airline will reduce Hamburg services by 60%, Berlin services by 20%, and will reduce services by 10% on other routes. In a February interview with Aviation Week, Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary told me, “We are very content to see German traffic fall. We would like to see German traffic fall for another year or two, [and] air fares rise dramatically for a year or two. And that [after two years], we think the German regional airports will come to us and say, ‘please Ryanair fly in here. Airports like Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Bremen, Nurnberg.’” My story now at the Aviation Week Network #hofmannaviation #luftfahrtexperte Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline Boeing ACI EUROPE Ralph Beisel Julian Jäger Airlines for Europe (A4E) #Ryanair Andreas Gruber #Boeing

It’s great to see that Delta Air Lines will be resuming Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Amsterdam flights this coming winter, with a daily A330-300 service. It last flew the route between May and October 2019, when it had five weekly to a daily 767-300ER operation. Interesting that it'll now apparently be winter seasonal. When it flew in those six months, it carried approx. 50k roundtrip passengers (per the US DOT T-100) with a seat load factor of 80%. Around 44% of pax transfer to fellow transatlantic joint venture partner KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’s flights (per OAG Traffic Analyser). Unsurprisingly, Germany was by far the top market, with Frankfurt the leading O&D. Amsterdam was Tampa’s third-largest European point-to-point market when Delta operated, behind Gatwick and Heathrow. It was a time when Heathrow didn't have non-stop flights (it now does because of Virgin Atlantic). In all, Delta’s Schiphol service captured approx. 12% of the European market from Tampa in the six months. #airlines #aviation

Yvonne Moynihan Wizz Air air reiterates the issue that SAF simply isn’t widely available, so book and claim is key for airlines and LCCs in particular as they typically operate from secondary airports. To demonstrate Wizz Air flew a SAF demo flight from Bucharest to Lyon but not on SAF as could only uplift the fuel in Lyon. #SAFInvestor24 #SAF #LCC #sustainableaviation Delta Air Lines Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline

Three airlines to serve Tbilisi to Paris route next year 🇬🇪 LCC Transavia France (IATA code: TO) is to launch direct flights between Paris (Orly) and Tbilisi from April 9, 2025, United Airports of Georgia, the state-run owner of the country’s airports said. The route will be served twice a week using Boeing 737NG aircraft. Currently, flag carriers, Air France and Georgian Airways, operate flights between the largest cities of France and Georgia. Both fly to Paris' Charles De Gaulle Airport. “It is important that Transavia France will fly to Tbilisi from Orly airport in Paris. This means that the French capital will be connected to the Georgian capital through two airports,” Irakli Karkashadze, general director of the United Airports of Georgia said . Transavia France is a budget division of the French-Dutch Air France - KLM group. Dutch LCC Transavia (IATA code: HV) has been flying to Tbilisi from Amsterdam since April this year. This chart is from IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd). It shows the largest low-cost carriers in the world, and their stage-adjusted unit costs. But it doesn't name names. Southwest Airlines is clearly the first one (on the far left). Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline clearly the second. Can you guess the others? Note: it seems the "SA" here refers to South Asia. #airlines #indianarilines
