"We run campaigns with affiliates, why should we work with you?" A standard question that I get from most clients who have been working on affiliate campaigns and dont understand the impact of an affiliate program. Here's what you get: 1. Unified tracking - A single platform, a single source of truth a single clearance window to manage all your partners. Do you really want to manage 20 publishers/ networks / partners on excel sheet and keep track of spends, covnersions on excel sheets? 2. Compounding effect - Typically programs take time to scale up (3-4 months) but beyond that they grow continously, much like your mutual funds ;-) . Reason is that publishers want to understand the stability of the program and see some traction in it before that can start applying for it. Also, affiliate is manual, it takes time to optimise, scale up and theres always some personal touch needed! 3. Visibility and transparency: Most affiliate neworks are able to scale up fast but get stuck beyond a few months. Clients then resort to adding more affiliate networks, leading to limited growth - more numbers is not always more growth. Reason beyond that is the networks supply strength - if you work with a blind network, beware that most networks are trading inventory amongst themselves and you are paying the cost of arbitrage and not really scaling up 4. Frauds: By-product of lack of visibility and transparency is the fraud that happens. Most frequent ones are brand bidding, click hijacking, spoofing among other. To save a few pennies are you comfortable with letting other bid on your brand and steal your organic users? Have you calculated the cost of fraud and time lost in discovering it? 5. Differentiated inventory: Are you stuck with just the same type of publishers and partners? When you work on a platform with a program based approach you work with parnters across media segment, coupons/ cashback/ loyalty / display / programmatic./ influencers and more. 6. Uniformity: We all love excecls but the sad truth to managing excels is that they dont allow us to scale up! We need softwares to scale up - thats what platforms allow you - create rules, create signals and scale up based on that. So as a client if you are okay being defrauded and open to networks bartering media and jacking up the price then continue working on campaigns. For all others who want to truly scale up in a standardised manner reach out to me and lets talk about the power of Tyroo & CJ! #performancemarketing #affiliatemarketing #affiliate

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing tactic wherein affiliates (publishers) earn commissions by promoting another company’s products or services through unique affiliate links or codes. When a visitor clicks on one of these links and makes a qualifying purchase, the affiliate receives a predetermined percentage of the sale or a flat fee. Affiliate marketing has become increasingly popular among both merchants seeking new ways to expand their reach and affiliates aiming to monetize their influence or expertise. Key characteristics of affiliate marketing include: - **Performance-based compensation:** Commissions are paid only when a specified action occurs, typically a sale or lead generation. - **Variety of partnership models:** Merchants may offer fixed commission rates, tiered structures, or payouts based on the number of referrals generated. - **Tracking and reporting:** Advanced technologies enable real-time monitoring of affiliate activity, helping merchants assess the effectiveness of their programs and reward successful partners appropriately. - **Diverse range of promotional tactics:** Affiliates leverage various techniques, such as product reviews, tutorials, coupons, and social media promotion, to boost sales and conversions. Benefits of affiliate marketing include: - **Low risk:** Merchants do not pay unless a sale is made, reducing financial exposure. - **Wide reach:** Affiliates often possess extensive networks and loyal followings, which can significantly amplify a merchant's message. - **Scaleable:** As affiliate programs grow, so too does the potential for generating additional revenue. - **Brand exposure:** By partnering with reputable influencers and publishers, merchants can gain credibility and trust among consumers. Challenges associated with affiliate marketing include: - **Compliance with regulatory requirements:** Adherence to laws governing disclosure, privacy, and data security is essential to avoid legal issues. - **Quality control:** Merchants must ensure that their brand image remains intact despite third-party involvement. - **Monitoring and managing program growth:** Scaling an affiliate program effectively necessitates careful planning and resource allocation. - **Identifying suitable affiliates:** Finding reliable and effective partners who share common goals and values takes effort and persistence. Successful affiliate marketing depends upon building mutually beneficial relationships between merchants and affiliates, fostering transparency, and continually striving to deliver value to all parties involved. #AffiliateMarketing #AffiliateProgram #AffiliatePartnerships #CommissionBased #AffiliateManagement #PassiveIncome #AffiliateSales #AffiliateNetwork #AffiliateCommission #PerformanceMarketing ##Affiliatecenter #ReferralMarketing #AffiliatePromotion #AffiliateProducts #AffiliateSuccess #AffiliateEarnings #AffiliateTraffic #AffiliateTracking ##Affiliatecorporation #AffiliateMarketer

❗The Hidden Risks of Affiliate Marketing: How We Lost $100,000❗ About a year ago, we discovered a nutra offer that was converting really well and providing a solid ROI. While searching for affiliate networks that had good caps, we stumbled upon SmartAdv. Our account manager, Eddie, initially set us up with a cap of 100 conversions per day, and after just a week, he doubled that. Things were going great—until payment time rolled around. Out of the blue, SmartAdv claimed that the advertiser had concerns about the quality of our traffic and refused to pay. The twist? We were also running traffic for this advertiser through two other networks—YepAds and PerformCB. When we reached out to those networks, they confirmed they had similar issues and suggested the advertiser might have made a mistake and was simply trying to cheat everyone by not paying for the traffic. Despite this mess, Yep Ads and Perform[cb] came through and paid us what we were owed. We truly appreciate their support. Unfortunately, SmartAdv decided not to pay us anything—not even a fraction of our spend—and didn’t provide any proof that our traffic was subpar. When I asked for evidence, they had nothing. Months later, their Head of Affiliates, Luke, just sent over the advertiser’s contact info and said we should sort it out ourselves. So, I’ve got to ask: Was Luke right to handle it this way? I believe affiliate networks should act as a buffer between advertisers and media buyers, ensuring fairness on both sides. That’s part of what we pay them for. Whether you decide to work with SmartAdv is entirely up to you, but personally, I wouldn’t recommend it. Always do your due diligence on partners and be ready for situations like this. A big shoutout to Yep Ads and Perform[cb] for standing by us and doing the right thing! #AffiliateMarketing #MediaBuying #DigitalMarketing #Partnerships #SmartAdv #Scam

Struggling to see results from your affiliate program? What I learned: 1️⃣ Review and Analyze ❌ Alert: Forgot to pay attention to affiliate traffic sources and conversion methods. Lesson: Traffic turned out to be low-quality, resulting in minimal conversions and wasted resources. ✏ Tip for Account Managers: Assess the affiliate's traffic sources, audience, and promotional methods. ✏ Tip for Advertisers: Establish clear guidelines and criteria for affiliate partnerships. 2️⃣ Communication and Guidelines ❌ Alert: Assume that publishers know the client’s goal and their guidelines. Lesson: Failing to establish and communicate clear guidelines, expectations, and performance metrics can lead to misunderstandings and misaligned goals. ✏ Tip for Account Managers: Review affiliates' websites and social networks to ensure promotional methods align with the brand’s values. ✏ Tip for Advertisers: Clearly communicate values, guidelines, and expectations. 3️⃣ Quality over Quantity ❌ Alert: Prioritizing the number of affiliates over the quality of those partnerships. Lesson: Belief that the more affiliates in the program the better because it will automatically lead to higher sales. ✏ Tip for Account Managers: Avoid focusing solely on getting as many publishers as possible, which can lead to inefficiencies. ✏ Tip for Advertisers: Work closely with the account manager to optimize publishers that bring quality traffic and sales. By prioritizing quality partnerships and thorough research processes, both account managers and advertisers can mitigate risks and maximize the potential of their affiliate marketing initiatives. ----------- Valuable? ♻️ Repost this to help your network. As I enter my second month at Partnerize, I have been reflecting on my inauguration to the world of affiliate marketing, and the astounding opportunity the channel presents to B2C businesses across various verticals. I'll admit that a few weeks ago, my grasp on the affiliate space needed a bit of fine-tuning. It's been reassuring to observe that over the past few weeks, many of my peers across marketing are equally grappling with their confidence and appreciation of what this channel can provide for their business. Interestingly, research from Partnerize and Forrester shows that senior marketers often lack a thorough understanding of the channel, and this is even more apparent in our local market. It's been an exciting introduction and one I have taken to with gusto. I am now proud to share some of my observations on the importance and fundamentals of affiliate marketing and global partnerships for Australian retailers, published below on Power Retail. Have a read, and please reach out to myself or any of my colleagues below if you too, find yourself a bit curious to learn more 🤔 Nell Nakkan Vanja Wilson Julia Ha Saskia Keller Mandie Satterfield Gina VERA LOPEZ Rich McCrum https://lnkd.in/gnwZurMp #affiliatemarketing #partnerships #marketingtips #retailmarketing #powerretail

3 Things Publicists Get Wrong About Skimlinks If you’re a publicist with clients in the commerce space, chances are you’ve started to grasp the basics of affiliate marketing and encountered Skimlinks. While it’s an incredible tool for publishers, many publicists misunderstand what it is, how it works, and how to leverage it to boost their brand's visibility and sales. In addition to my course, I consult on all things affiliate marketing with publicists and agencies regularly, and here are three common myths I run into all the time: Myth 1: "Skimlinks is an affiliate network." Not quite! Skimlinks isn’t a network like Impact, Rakuten, or CJ. It’s a subnetwork, connecting publishers (think Hearst, Dotdash Meredith, etc.) to multiple affiliate networks and programs through one platform. Think of it as a shopping mall where you can shop all the brands in one place without having to visit stores all over town. Skimlinks simplifies the process for publishers by aggregating everything into one location making it easy for publishers to focus on churning high quality content and letting them handle connections to programs. Myth 2: "If a publisher uses Skimlinks, they can’t use direct affiliate links." Nope! Publishers can switch between Skimlinks and direct affiliate partnerships. Skimlinks fills the gaps for brands or networks a publisher doesn’t have direct relationships with. Here’s why this matters: Google rewards content offering multiple checkout options. If your brand isn’t actively managing its affiliate program, you’re missing out on prime visibility and potential sales. Myth 3: "Skimlinks is just for mass media publishers." Wrong again! Back to our mall analogy: Skimlinks controls who gets in and who stays out. If you can demonstrate a strong affiliate strategy, even smaller or niche publishers (like coupon sites) can gain access. Skimlinks isn’t just for commerce giants like Hearst or Dotdash Meredith—it’s for any publisher that aligns with their standards and audience. And yes, there is a way to remove coupon publishers from your Skimlinks program. TLDR; The Takeaway for Publicists: Understanding how Skimlinks works, eliminating incompatible publishers, and diving into analytics are key to building a winning affiliate strategy for your clients. P.S. - I consult with publicists to demystify the wild west of affiliate marketing. Need help? DM me, and let’s set up a call! Are you a brand looking for an agency that gets it?
