Congratulations on your new title as President of EOTA, Thomas Bruun! As Chair of ETA-Danmark A/S, I am incredibly proud that you will lead the development of the framework for EOTA European Organisation for Technical Assessment in the coming years. This is not only a recognition of ETA-Danmark’s expertise but also of Denmark’s strong position as a frontrunner in quality assurance and innovation in the construction industry.   The ETA system is a cornerstone of the European construction sector, ensuring consistent and reliable documentation of product performance—especially for innovative solutions that fall outside existing standards. This enables manufacturers to create pioneering products that meet regulatory requirements while contributing to sustainable development.   Having attended EOTA’s General Assembly, I am confident that you are the right person to take on this important task. In the future, ETAs must also accommodate new demands, such as environmental considerations in performance declarations and digital product passports. These initiatives will enhance transparency and support the EU’s green and digital transition.   The collaboration between standards and ETAs is essential. While standards define common requirements for established construction products, ETAs pave the way for CE marking of unique and innovative solutions. Together, standards and ETAs are key tools for ensuring quality, sustainability, and market access across Europe.   I look forward to following your journey as President and am certain you will drive positive developments for both EOTA and the construction industry as a whole.   This is also to the benefit of the collaboration with Dansk Standard  

The UBAtc looked forward to the past General Assembly of EOTA on 26 November 2024 with even more interest than usual. The appointment of the new President was on the agenda and we emphasize our gratitude to Sebastian Wall for his past Presidency and wish the new President, Thomas Bruun, much success. The past years have been marked by the revision process of the Construction Products Regulation. The coming period of implementation of that Regulation may have a strong impact on the future of the organisation. In both cases, the President played and will play a key role. As an association of and for the (Belgian) construction sector, the UBAtc has always paid a lot of attention to the activities of EOTA, the organization that coordinates the assessment bodies with regard to the delivery of European Technical Assessments. The UBAtc is very pleased that, in addition to the new chairman, Eric Winnepenninckx, one of the managers of the UBAtc, has also been appointed as a board member of the organization. This underlines the commitment of the UBAtc to the future activities of EOTA. In order to achieve an innovative construction sector, it is essential that the European Technical Assessment remains an efficient and effective instrument for placing innovative products on the market in the European Union.
