Outsourcing PCBA can have many hidden advantages apart from cost... Whether you're a startup or an established firm, partnering with a local PCB assembly expert can streamline your operations and boost efficiency. One major advantage is access to additional engineering resources. Your contract manufacturer (CM) can handle everything from schematic capture to complete PCB layout, allowing your team to focus on core tasks. Outsourcing also provides flexibility in production volume. Whether you need a small batch or thousands of PCBs, a reliable CM can manage it all, saving you from expensive investments in specialized equipment and staff training. Moreover, experienced CMs have strong ties with component manufacturers, which can significantly reduce lead times. Faster production means quicker delivery to your customers, enhancing your market competitiveness. Local PCB makers bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise, ensuring high-quality results and smooth transitions from design to production. They can also help with design optimizations and cost-saving measures, making your operations more efficient. In conclusion, outsourcing your PCB assembly is a smart move that offers numerous benefits. From increased capacity and reduced lead times to specialized knowledge and cost rationalization, a good CM can be a valuable partner in your success. Let’s take a moment to talk about Design for.…. You might have heard the phrases DfM (Design for Manufacturing), DfA (Design for Assembly), or even DfX (Design for Excellence). But what about DfP (Design for Prototyping) or DfT (Design for Testing)? Do you understand the differences and when they come into play? Here at Unbox Product Design, we work through all stages of development from conception to final manufactured goods. We understand the materials, processes, and fine-tolerance differences between prototypes and tooled parts. We understand how to effectively design for each stage anticipating the changes needed at the next step. In turn, this gets our clients to market faster and avoids the seemingly random trial-and-error approach that leads to inefficiencies. If you have questions on these stages of your product development, reach out. We would be happy to talk more on these subjects. #innovation #industrialdesign #engineeringdesign #engineering #Startups #leanstartups

Are you frustrated with manufacturers who just never seem to meet your needs? Is your hair on fire every time you even think about manufacturing a part? We are trying to solve this long-existing gap between your team achieving the parts you need to bring your engineering marvels to reality. Our ambition is to be the best in manufacturing across the globe to avoid those pesky issues like : "That only vendor who can make your part, but is in another country" "This is the closest I can get to something that looks like my design with the available vendor" Or even "God, I can't even comprehend what I have to go through with this vendor" We would love to hear about your experience (or frustrations) you have faced, be it as a startup founder or a large corporation or just someone who loves engineering dreams into reality! #manufacturing #automotive #EV #hardware #engineering Source for image : https://lnkd.in/gPXxWHsP

Quite often, sellers get caught up in the excitement of developing a prototype. While having a stellar prototype is crucial, there's a critical step that often gets overlooked: asking and answering key questions related to mass production. 💭 Here are some critical questions that often go unanswered: 1️⃣ Is the product truly fit for how people will use it? Understanding customer use cases is essential for ensuring your product meets their needs. 2️⃣ How will it be manufactured, and which production processes will be used? The choice of manufacturing methods can significantly impact cost, quality, and timing. 3️⃣ What testing procedures will be in place? Ensuring product quality and reliability is paramount. 4️⃣ How will the product be assembled, and will production operators require guidance? Investing in jigs and fixtures can streamline assembly and improve efficiency. 5️⃣ How can mistake-proofing be implemented? Minimizing errors during production is key to maintaining quality and reducing waste. These are just a few of the critical questions that need answers to ensure successful mass production. By addressing these questions early on and collaborating closely with manufacturers, sellers can set themselves up for smoother production runs, higher-quality products, and happier customers. Let's not just focus on getting the product to work – let's ensure it's ready to thrive in the real world. 💪 Are you asking the right questions? #productdevelopment #manufacturing #entrepreneurship #innovation #amazonsellers #fbaseller

🔥 The Importance of Prototyping 🔥 📢 Prototyping is crucial for minimizing risks in product development. It ensures that design flaws are identified early, saving time and money in the long run. While the initial cost might seem high, it's a small price compared to the potential losses from untested designs. 📣 When choosing a prototyping manufacturer, focus on their overall capabilities—quality, service, and price. Remember, a well-made prototype can pave the way for a smooth and successful production process. #Prototyping #ProductDevelopment #RiskManagement #Manufacturing#engineering#supplychain#mfg#CNC#procurement#mfgday#machining#OEM#metalwork

Manufacturing has by far been the hardest part of our companies journey so far! To finding the correct manufacturer for you, to communication to mass production, it’s super difficult to manage. One other point is that sometimes manufacturers take advantage of small businesses. We found this with our original manufacturer. It’s important to stand up for yourself and your company with these large corporations and remind them that they shouldn’t push your “smaller” projects to the side to cater more to the larger companies.

Scaling the production of a complex smart device from design to mass manufacturing is a delicate process. The risks are high, especially for safety-critical technologies. What does it actually take to go from blueprint to successful large-scale production? In our latest blog, Mikko Kangas, Business Development Director at Innokas, shares his checklist to overcome the typical hurdles: 📋 Dealing with long material delivery times (spoiler: smaller, pricier batches aren't always the answer) 📋 Handling unexpected volume spikes (because material availability surprises no one anymore, right?) 📋 Avoiding final testing bottlenecks (hint: early error correction helps) Design plays a crucial role here. Whether it's PCB design or mechanical parts, forward-thinking can save a lot of headache and cost later. But design isn’t everything! You’ll also need strong strategies for managing material costs, implementing automation (where it makes sense), and leveraging Lean principles to keep things efficient. Mikko's checklist provides key insights for each step of the way. DFM as a marketing tool... 🤔 I had a very insightful Zoom call yesterday with Youssef Shokry, an Aerospace Engineer working in supply chain procurement at Kepler Communications Inc. We had a great conversation about how he evaluates potential suppliers and some of the criteria that build confidence in choosing to work with a supplier. My big takeaway from our call centered around design for manufacturing (DFM) and the power of clear and effective communication. 💡 Hard-tech is getting a lot of well-deserved attention, both in the press and from VCs. Young, ambitious, talented engineers are working to bring incredible products into the world. The challenge is that many of these folks are not necessarily experts or experienced in how things are actually made. 🤷♂️ I’m not disparaging this… how would they be? They’ve focused their efforts on developing skills and expertise in the fields that give them joy—they want to design and engineer and are willing to outsource the manufacturing to people who find joy in building. 🤓 The challenge here is that they may not have easy or consistent access to the manufacturing expertise that could save them massive headaches, time, and money during the design process. So it got me thinking, could DFM consulting be used as a marketing tool? For example, could we offer, say, 2 hours of free DFM consultation per part number as a way to draw in sales? I see this having three primary benefits: • We help the engineers design parts that can actually be made. • Our chances of landing the work are much higher because we’ve provided value and built a relationship. • Our chances of successfully making the parts (at a profitable rate) are significantly higher because we helped to shape the design. Curious to hear thoughts on this! 🙌 #CNC #Machining #Manufacturing #Reindustrialize #GCode #DFM #Startup #Venturecapital #Sales
