Raptor Train Botnet Compromises 200,000 Devices In a stark reminder of the growing threat landscape surrounding Internet of Things (IoT) devices, cybersecurity researchers have uncovered a new botnet named “Raptor Train” that has compromised over 200,000 devices worldwide. This sophisticated botnet, which primarily targets small office/home office (SOHO) and IoT devices, is believed to be operated by a Chinese nation-state threat actor known as Flax Typhoon, also referred to as Ethereal Panda or RedJuliett. The Emergence of Raptor Train According to Lumen’s Black Lotus Labs, the Raptor Train botnet has been active since at least May 2020. It reached its peak activity in June 2023, with over 60,000 devices under its control. The botnet has since grown exponentially, compromising a diverse range of devices including routers, IP cameras, DVRs, and network-attached storage (NAS) servers from various manufacturers like ASUS, Hikvision, Mikrotik, Synology, TP-Link, and more. The infrastructure behind Raptor Train is built on a three-tiered architecture: Read More: https://lnkd.in/d78MX_-M #CyberSecurity #IoT #Botnet #Ransomware #DataSecurity #Canada #CanadaCyberAwareness
