I'm in my show-and-tell era so here's what's up this week: I sent a proposal to help a client get rid of her WordPress-based membership site in favor of something that's easier to maintain and manage and will save $12k / year in maintenance costs. (See? I can let go of WordPress when it makes sense! LOL) I'm documenting and mapping an Ontraport install in preparation for helping map out a migration to a different platform. This includes mapping all landing pages, automations, tags, custom fields and membership site content. I consolidated a bunch of surveys in different Airtable bases into one base so that survey data can be consolidated in one place and the client will have one place to go to view interfaces that show response trends. I met with a bookkeeper client today and we upgraded her form to automatically reject people who don't want to use Quickbooks online and I kept her from adding apologetic language - no is a complete sentence. I reminded a client who wanted PDF invoices for their bookkeeping that they can log into the client dashboard and download them anytime. Earlier this month we launched a huge automated onboarding system for a dog trainer client that probably saves them 10 hours / week. I met with a founder who's making a CRM for ConvertKit (sorely needed if you ask me) I did a quick project automating 95% of an invoicing process for a client who was spending too much time manually futzing with spreadsheets and creating documents. She had tried to outsource this but the person she hired made invoicing errors that made the company look bad in front of the clients. When I described what I was working on to a friend, she said, "That's sounds like a magic spell." We are booking new Million Dollar Systems clients for Q4 and taking small high-impact small projects that help save a bunch of time and reduce errors. If that's something you need in your business, reach out, and let's chat.

If you're developing a SaaS product, it can be very tempting to develop the company/product website from scratch as well – after all, you have the very best resources on hand to do that. But in the long run, that is probably not the best solution. Former CMO at Danish accounting software leader Visma Dinero, Patrick T. Rasmussen, explains why. Patrick's post is in Danish, but LinkedIn has translated parts of it here: ============ STOP building homemade websites! It's a huge headache to maintain and update. It may well be that you can maintain it yourself at the moment, but in the long run it will take resources from your development team, who would rather (and should) build the world's coolest product. And worst of all: They are incredibly difficult (and time-consuming) to optimize! Instead, use WordPress, Hubspot CMS, Webflow, Sanity, Framer Sites or similar. ============ It's a challenge presented to every development company – your internal developers can always build something that's better and more suited to your own purposes. I recall that we many years ago had a similar discussion at Navision Software A/S (acquired by Microsoft) – surely we could develop a better calendar solution than the ones we could buy. Yes, but the opportunity cost would be, as Patrick explains in his post, that these resources would not be spending their scarce hours building the "insanely great" product that you're bringing to market, and that will drive your company's #valuation. So let product be product, anchored in Development and Product Managment, and let Marketing/Communications and Product Marketing rule the website. Link to Patrick T. Rasmussen's original post in the comments. #development #productmanagement #marketing #positioning #website

Sylvie Desjardins, CCC, CVRP, LCT of NxCareer came to me wanting to make her client experience better. She knew that regular one-size-fits-all software wouldn't work for her, and custom software was too expensive. She didn't want to "add another plug-in to WordPress" either. She needed a real solution. Together, we found a specific thing to make into a micro-SaaS (software-as-a-service). Sylvie used a paper questionnaire to help her clients figure out their career must-haves. It fit well with her workflow but not when the pandemic forced her to only do remote sessions. So, I made her a custom micro-SaaS—a small, branded, web-based questionnaire software. Sylvie uses it to send email invites to her clients during calls. The questionnaire is fun, like choosing between 'this or that,' and it gives specific results that spreadsheets or regular forms can't. Prices have dropped dramatically in the world of custom web-based software. Gone are the days of paying tens of thousands and to agencies or putting up with feature bloated subscription software that try to serve millions of people. Nothing is off the shelf, and finally having just what you need is finally reachable for small business owners. My pricing structure is designed to be transparent and flexible. Making sure that you receive the best value for your investment into this business asset. While the base price for a micro-SaaS build starts at $1000, I understand that each business has unique needs and requirements. That's why I offer customizable packages tailored to your specific goal and budget. Whether you're a small startup or a growing enterprise, we'll work with you to find the perfect solution that fits your needs. Hear it from her: "I had the pleasure of working with Denis to develop a custom tool for my business, and I couldn't be happier with the results. He quickly understood my vision and brought it to life in a way that exceeded my expectations. The level of professionalism and expertise demonstrated by Sidecar [and Denis] was truly impressive, and his commitment to delivering a high-quality product was evident throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Denis to anyone in need of reliable and innovative solutions for their business." - Sylvie, NxCareer.com Is it time for you to fix that painful link in your client journey experience? I’ve got room for one more micro-saas client. It’s time. Let’s connect.

On any given day, I am working in: Slack Github WordPress (maybe 5 to 7 sites) Facebook X (Twitter) Instagram YouTube HarvestApp Trello Asana Canva Gmail Facebook Messenger Facebook Business Manager Google Meet Google Calendar Google Ads Google Analytics Google Search Console LinkedIn WhatsApp Messages BB Edit Fetch Calendly ...and the list goes on. I've also come to add QuickBooks to the equation too. I've been working in QuickBooks the last few days to prep our accounts for taxes. It's monotonous work, I tell you. That's a lot of switching between tools, right?
