The survey of 2,000 adults showed that patient use of GenAI for healthcare is getting lower. While 37% said they used GenAI for health reasons in 2024, that's lower than the 40% who said the same in 2023. It all comes down to concerns around trust. With all the sensitive information providers deal with, patients aren't quite sure they want AI in control of all that power. They have to be shown how capable the technology is… which could start with provider endorsements. #PatientEngagement #Trust #GenerativeAI

If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone and that starts with access to primary care. So why does every AI healthcare pundit, including Jay Rughani et al of Andreessen Horowitz, think otherwise, who in their recently published, AI: The Teammate Clinicians Need, wrote "Let's be clear--the goal of new AI tools is not to replace clinicians?" What about replacing "absent" clinicians? According to a 2023 report from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), "over 100 million Americans don't have access to a primary care provider," and that number is only expected to grow. But what if we could change the paradigm? What if we could fill the gap with AI-Powered Digital Human PCPs? Even if we don't replace a single PCP, there's still a vast shortage of primary care that needs to be addressed. It's time to stop worrying about hurting PCPs' feelings who have nothing to fear given the paucity of them, and start focusing on providing equal and fair access to healthcare for all. That's where SOAP Health comes in. With a mission to provide equitable healthcare for all, we're leading the way (by September 2024) in building an AI Powered Primary Care Physician™. Let's work together to make quality healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of their location or financial situation. Join the movement towards "Equal access healthcare for all." #digitalhealthcare, #digitalhealth, #dei, #equalaccess, #fairaccess, and #equitablehealthcare. #primarycare #pcp #aidoctor

HIMSS #AI for Healthcare Forum in Boston, Eve Cunningham MD MBA Chief of Virtual Care and Digital Health at Providence presented an impactful AI use case empowering PCPs for better care decisions. PROBLEM: PCPs pressured to address a patient’s health concerns in an average of 18 minutes with an average of 220,000 data points in the patient’s electronic medical record. And with over one in 3 patients referred to a specialist each year, PCPs are tasked with diagnosing the health issue and making decisions about the need for a specialist. PCPs struggle with massive amounts of clinical and patient data needed to make the best referral decisions. They need assistive technology to support this important care access process. AI SOLUTION MEDPEARL: Created through #HumanCenteredDesign approach, co-creating with 270 clinicians. MedPearl has “concise, human-authored algorithmic primary and subspecialty care next best actions on over 700 conditions”. Clinicians utilize MedPearl’s AI algorithms to pull up and review essential clinical information alongside contextualized patient data to see next best actions with what has/hasn’t been done for the patient, empowering clinicians to optimize the “work up” while reducing redundant diagnostics. KEY BENEFITS: Clinical users report less time in the EMR, fewer hours outside work hours and more productivity. Comments from clinicians: "...making it easier to quickly access the most relevant information. Its streamlined format saves time and effort, ensuring health professionals can find information without being overwhelmed by unnecessary details”. ".. uniformity of patient care path the best -practice level. This allows primary care physicians to provide more care value, improving diagnostic testing, treatment, and referrals and in opening more specialist access". *** Read my blog as I captured my discussions with Dr Cunningham about Providence's MedPearl development process, four key platform roadmap plans and roll out to other health systems https://bit.ly/3znvZVt #AIinHealthcare #PrimaryCare #ProviderExperience Sara Vaezy Christina Caraballo Robert Havasy Hal Wolf Zeev Neuwirth, MD
