Large Language Models such as Llama3.1 are great for Q&A. But, in many domains, such as 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, we need models that prompt users to think critically and to self-learn rather than give straight-out answers. For this reason, we at EURECOM finetuned Microsoft's Phi3 to emulate Socratic interactions. In short, when addressing student's questions, our Socratic model asks insightful questions in return, guiding the students to search for information on their own. 👇👇 Check out the example of interactions with our model below (these are true interactions, no editing). 👇👇 This model is a smaller piece of a much larger project we are developing at EURECOM. We are building chatbots to help students with their learning activities. Our chatbots can search our internal educational content (lecture handouts, books, and slides) to answer students' questions.
