I am incredibly grateful for last week’s conversation with Madhu Muthukumar. ✨
As an ambitious immigrant and resilient international student striving to be an empowering leader, hearing Madhu share his journey with such openness and vulnerability inspired me deeply.
It prompted me to reflect on the kind of leader I aspire to be, mirroring the qualities I admired in Madhu: embracing my own journey, empowering others and acknowledging their humanity, a commitment to improving processes and making them more equitable, and maintaining a sincere care, intentionality, and dedication towards my work and its impact.
With the constant barrage of expectations regarding professional, personal, and financial "success," particularly among Generation Z and millennials, maintaining focus on one's personal journey can be a challenge. But, as Madhu advised, 1️⃣⭐ "Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can," and remember to reflect. Being open to opportunities is just as critical as questioning ourselves with, 2️⃣⭐ "Do I really enjoy doing this?" and 3️⃣ ⭐"Do I aspire to become like this individual as I mature?" Merely being intelligent isn't sufficient if we're engaged in activities that don't interest us. We'd lose our longevity. You can’t compete with someone who is willing to whole-heartedly dedicate their attention and effort for a cause they deeply care about. Hence, it's crucial to find something that aligns with our values and passions, dedicate ourselves to it, and forge our own path to being successful & “lucky”---as luck is nothing other than 4️⃣⭐ “opportunity meeting preparation”.

Sounds fun. Come do one in SF (not during GreenBuild!). Question - Why do you think your team so confused by a time honored courtesy that takes all of 10 minutes? high end conferences do this, usually with a lot more people. I.e #TheLobby.
