Our latest research article on Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) has just been published to the AIS eLibrary and will be presentend at The European Conference on Information Systems 2024 Open Access: https://lnkd.in/dcv4j7jt 🔍 In this study, we analyzed DAOs, multifunctional systems that mediate transactions between humans and blockchains or operate entirely autonomously. Despite their growing importance, the characteristics of DAOs as online communities have not been fully understood. 📊 By analyzing an extensive dataset of 31 002 DAOs, 220 960 proposals, over 51 987 413 votes, and 154 087 070 datapoints on token ownerships, we've uncovered several insights: - Validation of the 90-9-1 Rule: Our research confirms this common online participation inequality. - Unequal Voting Power: We conducted a deciding voter analysis that highlights significant disparities in voting influence. - Scale-Free Network Properties: The study demonstrates the presence of influential nodes within the network, suggesting a power-law function in the distribution of DAO memberships and proposal participation. - Information Diffusion: Interestingly, we found that the diffusion of information within DAOs is not affected by the level of connectedness among voters.
