Having just finished reading David Yeager's invaluable new book, 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People, I realized that its management and motivation lessons are not just particularly useful for engaging with younger employees, but can also be applied more broadly to create a more fulfilling workplace for all. Here are a few of the many lessons found in the book: - Don't just "manage"; instead, be a mentor who listens, respects others, and seeks to foster excellence. - Set high expectations AND also provide support to meet those expectations. - Be transparent in your expectations, goals, and beliefs. - Purpose matters - connect what your employees are doing to something truly meaningful for them. - Foster a sense of belonging where everyone feels valued, connected, and respected. These lessons might seem straightforward, but if they were, why aren't more managers following them? #management #motivation #workplace #engagement #leadership #mentorship
Completely agree - this work and David's insights apply to leading all ages.
