Physicians Misled on CPT 22612 With so many metal fusion devices available, confusion is emerging around the correct coding—especially for CPT 22612. Doctors are inserting metal devices without posterolateral bone graft and calling it fusion. CPT 22612—posterolateral, posterior, or intertransverse process fusion of the lumbar spine with bone graft—represents this specific approach. After watching this video, you’ll know the code and know the technique Learn More: www.KICVentures.com www.NANISX.com NANISX KIC Ventures FacetFuse Sacrix NanoFUSE Biologics Inspan Sagitechnology LESS Spine MISquito AxioMed #BackPain #LESS #fusion #spinasurgery #pediclescrews #interventional #painmanagement Matthew Lazzari Taylor Headley Pouyan Molkara This post is for informational purposes only and does not constitute an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy securities.

Coding should be introduced in medical school while doing rotations. It should be practiced and perfected during residency/fellowships. It should also be talked diligently with weekend industry courses and during part of CME hours. And, finally reviewed throughout your medical practice with your billing team. Above all, be honest about using the correct codes with the work done.

There is a number of the, so called lumbar fusions that IMHO do not meet the code. For example; CPT 22612 is an open procedure, it requires direct visual observation of the surfaces being fused. Anyone that has done a lumbar fusion using an 18 inch long tubular retractor must have an incredible ability to see things thru that 3/4 inch pipe.
