Everything you wanted to know about measuring impact....but were afraid to ask! Great article which outlines where charitable and voluntary organisations should start when it comes to measuring their impact. And this explains a lot of the work that we do when working in partnership with organisations, particularly in the early stages. If anything in the article resonates with you, happy to have a chat on the issues raised! https://lnkd.in/dxArkkA4 #impact #socialvalue #makingadifference

In the quest for impactful philanthropy and meaningful social change, it's crucial to rethink traditional approaches to charity and nonprofit work. I recently watched a thought-provoking TED Talk by Dan Pallotta, and it sparked some important reflections. Rethink Overhead Costs: Pallotta challenges the notion that low overhead is inherently good and suggests that investing in talent, marketing, and infrastructure can drive greater impact. Empower Innovation: He advocates for allowing nonprofits the freedom to experiment and innovate, just like for-profit businesses. Change the Narrative: It's time to change how we perceive and support charities, focusing on their potential to create significant social change rather than just their financial efficiency. As leaders in the nonprofit sector, we can drive this change by adopting a more entrepreneurial mindset and supporting organizations in ways that enable them to scale and innovate. What are your thoughts on this approach? How can we collectively shift our perspective to enhance our impact? Join the conversation and share your insights! #Philanthropy #SocialChange #NonprofitLeadership #Innovation #TEDTalks

Last night, Kristian Rönn of Normative.io joined the Growth minds community to answer a simple question: what's the best way for rich & powerful company builders to give back? Like the Founder's Pledge itself, Growth minds attracts founders who have chosen ambitious paths & reached ambitious milestones. Our members run companies that are, on average, 10 employees. They’ve raised at least 10m SEK & run companies valued at 75m SEK. This all begs the question: what do we do with that money and power? Effective Altruism has an answer. Effective altruists seek to allocate resources—time, money, and effort—towards causes where they can do the most good, whether through charitable donations, career choices, or advocacy. One of the most important philosophical ideas to come out of Northern Europe in the last 15 years, Effective Altruism has already caused leaders around the world to donate billions of dollars to effective charities through affiliated organizations like Open Philanthropy, GiveWell, and the Founders Pledge. ➡️ If you're interested to learn more about Effective Altruism or the Founder's Pledge, reach out to Growth minds member, Jonatan Carlsson or Founder's Pledge manager Edward Mason--both of whom spoke last evening. 🟠Growth minds is a community for leaders leveling up. We help our members better understand themselves so they can better serve society. Apply to join at our website.

It's 2024, and the power of collaborative philanthropy is more evident than ever. Charitable organisations harness partnerships' strength to achieve more profound impacts on our communities. This synergy isn't just uplifting; it's transformative. I've seen how charities are breaking down silos by joining forces with businesses, governments, and other non-profits. Each partner brings unique resources and expertise, creating a multiplier effect that can't be achieved in isolation. Pooling funds for a common cause has become a testament to the power of unity. It maximises the reach and deepens the potency of every pound contributed. But it's not just about money; it's the sharing of knowledge and networks that's truly revolutionising the approach to tackling societal issues. Insights about communities, markets, and strategies cross boundaries like never before. Technology, too, plays a pivotal role. It's being leveraged to coordinate efforts, measure outcomes, and tell the story of change as it happens. Shared platforms are enabling a level of transparency that builds trust and accountability among partners and the public. There's a palpable shift towards long-term, strategic investments over one-off donations. Charities are engaging with partners to address root causes rather than just symptoms, fostering sustainable change. I've also noticed an exciting trend of empowering local leaders. Charitable alliances are putting decision-making in the hands of those closest to the issues at hand. Local knowledge and leadership ensure that solutions are culturally sensitive and effective. The results speak for themselves. Communities are witnessing real improvements, from cleaner environments and healthier lives to more education and economic development opportunities. Charities are proving that when we come together, the impact we can make is exponentially greater. It's a thrilling time to be involved in the philanthropic space, witnessing the unfolding stories of change powered by collaboration. The collective approach to charity truly redefines what it means to make a difference in 2024. #Philanthropy #Community #MakeADifference

WHAT MAKES A GREAT CHARITY?🏆📢✨🥇 Here's what Jodi Kennedy of Equity Trustees has to say: At EQT we have a vision of a future where effective philanthropy supports a prosperous, equitable and sustainable world for all. We achieve this by collaborating with and listening to those around us – be it fund seekers or grant makers. We work closely with the for-purpose sector; we understand they’re the experts and we are led by them as to where and how our funding is needed. We support organisations who understand the unique space they occupy and are clear about what they do well and why, and just as clear about what they don’t do. We value collaboration and ‘systems thinkers’ - those who understand the interconnected dynamics, emphasise addressing root causes and encourage strategic interventions. We aim to fund better futures, not just immediate needs, so we grant to organisations that are working in new ways with longer term outcomes and visions. We back leaders who are deeply connected to the people and causes they are working to improve, as we believe that the solutions are there, it’s about amplifying them. We know there isn’t a one size fits all approach for what makes a good charity. That’s why we see our grantees as partners, where learning together guides all that we do.
