We do not know how to deal with this really, what would you advise? ANSWER: Do you have an employee assistance programme (EAP) in place? If not, I’d strongly suggest that you get one for all your employees ASAP! These are very cost effective, I can suggest a few to you when we talk. In short, they will provide you with professional counsellors/advisors on every subject that you can ever think of. These services are usually operated 24/7 – 365 days, and always with confidentiality. I would always communicate the literature from that organisation to all employees via email and post. When I had specific cases, I would often send these details to them personally as part of a caring email/communication process that was always well received. Across Australia, millions of people provide care for friends or family members who are ill, have a disability, an addiction, or who are frail. Each year, the Carers Australia deliver the Carer Wellbeing Survey which calls on current and past carers to tell us about their experiences. In 2024, we are again asking carers to tell us about their lives in the Carer Wellbeing Survey. As well as asking about wellbeing and the impacts of rising living costs for carers, we are asking about experiences with accessing respite care and dementia resources. We had such a brilliant session yesterday exploring #neurodivergence & grief, hosted by Cruse Bereavement Support. Everyone was very patient with the fact that I went substantially overtime….. the problem is, it’s such an important topic, and yet it’s one that has been overlooked. If you search for information (or training) about neurodivergence and #grief, you won’t find much at all. Grief is an integral part of the human experience. Around 20% of us are neurodivergent (quite likely that figure is higher, since many go undiagnosed until much later in life). More needs to be done to provide understanding and educating about the way that ND people experience and process grief, and what they need by way of tailored support.
