I was fortunate to represent The Magnificent Mile® Association last week at the 2024 World Street Congress in #Osaka. I was joined by Victoria Barrett from Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, who did a phenomenal job of representing Chicago and the region. The cities of Paris, Melbourne, and New York City sent outstanding delegates, and we shared with each other and our hosts from Osaka, Japan the best thinking in street design, development, activation, and management. International relationships can be fruitful and invigorating, and ultimately help remind us of how much we have in common. A plus: No international disasters occurred.

Experiencing the Magic of Samichlaus in Switzerland 🎅 🪄 Having recently moved to a small village in Switzerland, I had the unique opportunity to witness a beautiful local tradition—the Samichlaus Parade. Unlike the city parades I have seen before, this one was intimate, cultural, and filled with the sound of Swiss cowbells echoing through the streets. 🔔 This year, the parade passed directly in front of my house, and I felt truly integrated into the community when the cowbell players performed especially for my 2-year-old son. Watching his joy and curiosity as he experienced a new culture was a moment I will cherish forever. 🎊 This experience reminded me of the importance of connecting with local traditions and cultures. Just as this event brought us closer to the community, understanding and respecting local customs is equally crucial in professional life. Businesses that take the time to understand the local culture, language, and mindset can create meaningful connections, whether with local stakeholders or international partners. 🎊 🌟 Reflection: How can we embrace and adapt to local cultures—whether in life or business—to foster better connections and growth? I would love to hear your experiences: Have you ever immersed yourself in a local tradition that left a lasting impression? How do you think businesses can better integrate into local markets to create stronger networks? 👐 Let's celebrate the magic of culture and connection, both personally and professionally! #Networking #Culture #SamichlausTradition #Connection

The latest episode is online! Our host Tetyana Karpenko invited two guests: Angelica Domas and Camilla Cuppini, who actively engage in the integration of people who move to Luxembourg. Camilla (originally from Italy) is the president of the Cooltour association, and Angelica (originally from Ukraine) is an active member of it. Camilla came to Luxembourg in 2007 and has since dedicated a lot of time to intercultural exchange. For the last 10 years, she has been a member of the Commission for integration for the city of Luxembourg. Angelica moved to Luxembourg 6 years ago and met Camilla in a different project with almost a similar idea. (Link is in the first comment)
