New cyber security data reveals the impact of attacks on schools The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) latest Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2024 shows that cyber attacks are a significant issue for UK schools, with 71% of secondary and 52% of primary schools affected last year. Phishing attacks are the most frequent problem, reported by 92% of primary and 89% of secondary schools. Schools are actively working to find and fix security risks through audits and tests. While 75% of primary and 81% of secondary schools have cybersecurity policies, primary schools’ measures are not as developed as those in secondary schools. The DfE’s CyberSecure Check, made by SWGfL, is a free tool helping schools check and improve their cybersecurity, aiming for consistent safety practices and better defence against digital threats. https://ow.ly/zBot50St7BX.
