The best advice I’ve ever received: Being busy doesn’t mean being productive. It’s so easy to focus on things that don’t drive business growth. I’d rather: - Listen to a podcast. - Watch a YouTube video. - Work on menial tasks for quick wins. And for a long time, that’s exactly what I did. But here’s the thing: they didn’t move the needle. The turning point came when I realized that being busy and being productive are two entirely different things. Growth came when I aligned my day-to-day tasks with the bottlenecks in my business. Here’s what I did instead: 1. Dedicated multiple hours a day to cold outreach (painful but necessary). 2. Committed to learning new skills that directly built upon my business (frustrating but transformational). These weren’t the most enjoyable tasks. But they were the bottlenecks in my business. Over time, this focus on high-impact tasks: - Unlocked new opportunities I’d been avoiding. - Pushed my business past the plateau I’d been stuck in. - Helped me see measurable progress in areas that matter. Being busy won’t grow your business. Focusing on what actually drives results will. So, ask yourself: What’s the one task you’ve been avoiding that could move the needle for your business today? Start there.

Are you becoming the bottleneck in your own business? Sometimes I talk to CEOs and Solo Entrepreneurs who haven't yet brought on a Virtual Assistant or a team, and I see this situation playing out very often. Because the CEO is spending their time wearing all of the hats in the business, they can find themselves bogged down in the client work and the day-to-day, and then realize they haven't done the higher level tasks and strategic planning because there isn't enough time. This is often a tell-tale sign that a CEO could use the support of a VA, as they are becoming the bottleneck of their business. Without those higher level tasks and strategic planning, it is difficult for a business to grow or scale successfully, and can cause issues if it grows regardless as the workload becomes more than one person can manage.
