In beautiful British Columbia, #BCHydro along with their owner and single shareholder “Province of BC” are stewards of #decarbonization by #electrification. I have been part of this ecosystem in BC, externally for the past 14 plus years and more internally in the last 6 months.. It is an absolutely outstanding feet to achieve provincial electrification goals given the speed and scale of deployment necessitated to facilitate this industrious shift from a predominantly fossil fuel powered region. That said, this will not be possible without strong policy #leadership. However, what is truly magnificent is to see the fortitude and caliber of people who are making this happen! Salute to these unseen soldiers… the real power ⚡️behind global electrification.

We are entering the era of electricity, with annual demand projected to increase 2.5 times in the coming decades and new dimensions. By 2030, data centers alone could account for 3-8% of global electricity consumption. The rapid expansion of renewable electricity sources is also putting pressure on power grids and increasing demand for critical equipments like transformers - a market expected to grow from $48 billion today to $67 billion by 2030. In a bid to meet the surging global demand for transformers and bolster electrification efforts worldwide, Hitachi Energy unveiled plans to inject over $1.5 billion into ramping up its global transformer manufacturing capacity by 2027. This substantial investment aims to address the long-term needs of customers while creating over 4000 jobs across its expanding operations. The investment initiative will see capacity expansions across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, leveraging Hitachi Energy's existing global footprint. Notably, a significant portion of the investment, approximately $180 million, will be allocated towards establishing a cutting-edge transformer factory in the Vaasa region of Finland. AI and digitalisation are crucial for the necessary energy transition and to lower CO2 emissions, says the CEO of Schneider Electric, which is launching new solutions at its Innovation Summit in Paris. The world could save $2 trillion (€1.85 trillion) by 2030 if it implements the necessary technology to decarbonise the energy sector, according to Schneider Electric. "We have the technology to get rid of 70% of CO2 emissions that are generated by energy," said CEO Peter Herweck as he called on global leaders from across industries to speed up their efforts. The CEO of the French multinational company, specialising in digital automation and energy management, was speaking at the company's flagship Innovation Summit in Paris on Wednesday. How AI can drive the change According to Herweck, the solution to lower carbon emissions from the energy sector lies in combining automation, electrification and digitisation. Data centres and artificial intelligence (AI) are in the forefront of their solutions. Investments today are showing a return within 10 years. Schneider Electric has launched new services, including a new supply chain decarbonisation programme for the minerals and metals industry, a crucial sector for the future of renewable technologies as it provides necessary rare earths and similar materials to produce EV batteries and solar panels, among others. 

➡️ As more electric vehicles are being adopted, industries are transitioning to electrified processes, and buildings are increasingly relying on electricity, flexibility requirements will be more than double by 2030 and grow seven times by 2050. the grids need to be upgraded and optimised to handle this surge in demand. failure to address this issue may result in inadequate supply and reliability issues. (the revolution is coming to all sectors), and utilities are in the middle with a big challenge to face, and need to be able to play like orchestrator, bringing to their customers solutions that allow them accelerate decarbonization; starting with their operations in parallel to contribute to the demand flexibility as well. ✅ The world transitions to net zero, it has never been more important to embrace sustainable business models, no matter how disruptive they may be. here is important to highlight the need for a non-siloed approach to achieving a just energy transition and the need for cross-sector and cross-border collaboration, ❇️ An example of two giants that are working in a collaborative way; is Schneider Electric with Iberdrola together we are working strong building a new way trough digital services and software solutions looking for help the end users ecosystem, mainly the iberdrola´s largest energy consumption customers on their operations improvement, processes efficiency´s increase, cost reduction while pushing decarbonization. 💹 how? delivering a mix of existing and proved solutions that allow customers trough Battery Energy systems , Microgrid, heat pumps, distributed control systems, energy management systems, all of above, agnostic to their existing automation schemes, to gain value chain, decarbonize and optimize their operations. ❓Please ask me for more detailed information.
