While UN working with countries on Climate Change agenda, which will further translate into actions from businesses as part of directives or incentives and finally reach us individually through business. There is part though which is not covered by this mechanism which is you and me as individuals contribution. While i am not inclined personally to protest to pressurise society in general, I do certain day to day things consciously and expect support for these from government and industry in their capacity. Some of them as below.
1. I like traveling like some of you, while short distances i try to use small capacity more fuel efficient vehicle like electric scooter, motorcycle. I would some day transit to bicycle and electric motorcycle when infrastructure allow this. I avoid motorcycles above 500cc, although I have liking for those.
2. For medium distance travel with family i use small car which has good safety rating. I avoid cars over 1.2 lire engine even though they may be comfortable or may serve as status symbol.
Some day i will switch to hydrogen or electric car.
3. For long distance i prefer trains and plane. I like that feeling of sitting in train and heading to Hogwarts school(from Harry potter 😀). I need to convince though my family against issues they raise, which are fair and existing,ie, getting seats availability, if available together, if together struggle to occupy, after occupation struggle to defend space around against encroachment by unreserved/without ticket entrants without any access control or security control. May be Ashwini Vaishnaw can help in my mission to convince on usage of trains as preferred long distance transport and small contribution on Climate change 😀.
4. I visit places as tourist which work on reducing environmental impact and work on awareness, this way i provide them money to sustain them without sacrificing fun part.
5. I pay premium for food grown sustainably as far possible, i do not negotiate to bring down fair value, i use my nego urge on high value items.
6. I use optimum clothing and similar consumables. My looks and prestige take secondary role. While we crib about plastic usage, i use reusable plastic cupboard and avoid wooden ones. The problem is not plastic but the way it is used.
Do you have your own way of contribution?
UN Climate Change
This year is critical for climate transparency.🔍
Countries need to prepare and submit their first Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs) by year-end.
Gathering and sharing climate data helps countries to:
🌱keep improving climate policies
🚀set more ambitious climate plans and targets
📈unlock finance to support them
UN Climate Change offers support to help countries submit their first BTRs this year, and improve reporting over time: https://bit.ly/4aY296K
