Africa’s Green and Inclusive Future: Climate and Biodiversity Solutions
DYK: The African Development Bank’s new Ten-Year Strategy (2024-2033) prioritises climate resilience and #biodiversity as fundamental pillars for fostering a prosperous, inclusive, and integrated Africa. It underscores the critical need to mobilize climate finance, invest in natural capital, and strengthen partnerships to tackle the escalating impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss.
At today’s #COP29 session, the Bank, alongside key partners, will host a side event highlighting strategic interventions for climate change adaptation as envisioned in its strategy.

Whose Metrics Count in Locally Led Adaptation (LLA)? Join us at #Gobeshona24
The Africa Research and Impact Network (ARIN) is excited to participate in the virtual #GobeshonaGlobalConference on Monitoring Locally-Led Adaptation (#LLA) and #resilience!
This year's theme focuses on connecting local and international stakeholders to #support and #empowercommunities tackling climate change.
ARIN is particularly interested in the question: Whose #metrics count in measuring the #success of #LLA initiatives?
We believe effective metrics should:
#Empower local communities to define their own progress and well-being.
#eflect the realities faced by communities on the ground.
Join us at the #Gobeshona24 conference today as we engage in discussions and advocate for a more inclusive approach to monitoring LLA!

#Desertification is one of the main drivers of migration and food crises. Along with the UN negotiating processes on Climate (UNFCCC) and Biodiversity (CBD), since 1992 there has been a dedicated track exclusively on desertification (#UNCCD). However, this #COP receives less media and political attention, although for Italy desertification is a fundamental issue impacting relations with Africa and the Middle East and regional stability in the Mediterranean. We interviewed the president of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Alain-Richard DONWAHI who explained the importance of the "forgotten COP".

Whenever we need to talk regarding climate change then it's crucial to take into our consideration the importance of water security and the numerous ways towards achieving the needed solutions and objectives. As residents in Egypt and as country with huge population, then actions should exists, European Union priority is related to climate change mitigation.
During today's youth debates aspects related to Artificial intelligence and its impact on climate change have been discussed. To summarize, in Egypt to eliminate the negative implications regarding climate change, we have to take into our consideration the importance of financial challenges, water security, eco friendly, and how to use water politely and as youth we have to provide innovative policies to deal with policy makers and introduce new ideas🍀☘️🌳.

🌍Our Fight for Climate Justice is Far from Over!
We proudly and actively participated in the Global Week of Climate Mobilization (13th - 20th September), raising our voices alongside millions across the globe. But this fight is not confined to just 7 days, 4 weeks, or even 12 months. It goes beyond 2030 and will continue until we secure systemic change in climate financing and accountability.
The impacts of the climate crisis are felt every day, especially by the most vulnerable communities in the Global South, who bear the brunt of the consequences from the actions of the Global North. Temporary fixes and short-term promises are not enough we must demand sustainable, long-term solutions that address the root causes of climate injustice.
This is a call for radical reform in how climate finance is allocated. We need to hold the biggest polluters accountable and ensure that funding reaches those most affected by climate disasters. It’s time to shift from words to action and from promises to progress.
Together, let’s continue to demand fair, transparent, and accessible climate financing, because the future of our planet depends on it.
