During training, all officer cadets learn to live by the academy’s motto: ‘Serve to Lead’. Training is designed to make you an effective leader of soldiers. Military training is infantry-based so that everyone, no matter what their eventual Regiment or Corps, will have mastered the core essentials to help them on their leadership journey. #leadership #ServeToLead #Sandhurst #RMAS #Soldier #Military

Why is it so important for this group to downplay the significance of sexual misconduct in the CAF? They suggest that addressing and attempting to change the cultural issues within the CAF would somehow diminish the so-called warrior spirit. This group of highly educated individuals with long-standing careers in the CAF fails to show empathy and understanding for the victims. Instead, they push the narrative that the CAF is struggling with its image, procurement, and personnel quality. Why not show empathy while making these points? Why do they feel the need to undermine a just cause to push their agenda? If the CAF claims to be a family, what kind of family member would step on another to silence or discredit them? While I respect those who have had long careers in the CAF, I believe this approach does not demonstrate a willingness to change and reflect the best that society has to offer. This does not uphold the higher standards to which the CAF should aspire. Frankly, I am disappointed in the exchange of ideas presented in this podcast and I sorely hope that members of the CAF continue on with the culture change.
Operations Management Leader with Expertise in Resources and Strategic Management | Dad x 3 | Canadian Army Veteran
I recently watched an insightful discussion featuring Dr. Jordan Peterson, Lieutenant-General J.O. Michel Maisonneuve, Barbara Anne Maisonneuve (born Krasij), and Vice-Admiral Mark Norman. They delved into critical issues affecting the Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes, including the implementation of #DEI policies, the shift away from #meritocracy, and the challenges surrounding #sexualmisconduct. Their conversation also touched on the broader implications for Canada's credibility on the world stage. As someone with a deep connection to the Canadian Forces, I find their perspectives highly relevant and timely... #CanadianForces #Leadership #NationalSecurity

We can proactively shape our military leadership for the better. In 1941, General Marshall led a major restructuring of the military's leadership. Hundreds of officers were retired or discharged to bring in new and dynamic perspectives. The initiative was controversial, but aimed to improve the army's effectiveness. We must improve our leadership by identifying and promoting capable individuals with skills and innovative vision for modern warfare. These high-potential officers should not have to wait for the traditional command rotation; their talents are needed now more than ever. If we hesitate, our adversaries may capitalize on our stagnation, forcing us into a reactive stance.

What a tremendous book from Lloyd Clark! His book explores the leadership journeys and approaches of renowned World War II military commanders George Patton, Bernard Montgomery, and Erwin Rommel. It provides insights into their strategic thinking, decision-making processes, and the challenges they faced in leading troops during crucial campaigns of the war. A recounting of a clash of wills, egos and ambitions that entertains and thrills in equal measure, this book should be required reading in defence academies. #militaryhistory #generalship #leadership #pme #educationalresources
