Crowd sourcing a quote from you for this week's newsletter: Here's what I need: For years people have said mobile gaming will be the next big thing in gaming and esports. The Esports World Cup now has at least two mobile games on the docket and maybe more. Is the EWC going to be the catalyst that propels mobile game esports into mainstream esports? Is mobile gaming the future. Would love to quote YOU in the newsletter.

Mobile games are extremely popular but the vast majority of players are still consuming casual games. It's exciting to see games like Honkai: Star Rail get the praise it did, and attract more core gamers, but it really depends what we mean by "the future". Do I expect it to become the new preferred platform for people who historically play console and PC games? Definitely not. But is it growing amongst that group due to high quality games? Yes.

Mobile Gaming has a significant value in esports due to the fact that the mobility of it and the wide accessibility allows it to have or build a large playerbase for any title. At the end of the day esport is a spectator sport and mobile gaming, in regions where they exist, have huge audience, playerbase and viewership. If it is expanded, it will only broaden the domain of esports which is definitely a positive thing.

As educators take control of the scene, we will bring equipment to schools making PC/console accessible. We won't allow for mobile gaming because it's even worse for posture. Mobile will have a place for a while, but it will eventually fizzle out as community & competitive gaming becomes more of an educational tool. I hope this comment is still around in 10 years when #esportsedu has a " war " on mobile gaming.

mobile is already mainstream in asia, it's just in western countries that it isn't. in SE asia (indonesia, etc) + China, MLBB for example, is the biggest game by a big margin... both in terms of players and viewership.

Mobile esports has long needed that visual "wow" moment that other esports have had to sell the idea that they're as big as their console and PC breatheren. Being on the same stage and being given the same amount of billing will go a long way towards doing just that.
