Bulk cold calling is dead. I don't even answer my phone anymore, if you're not in my address book or I don't recognize the caller ID. Do you do the same? Maybe if I'm bored and I happen to answer, if there is any split-second pause (aka automated dialer system), I hang up right away. If it's that important, the caller will either leave a message or call back right away (double or triple tap); automated dialers never do! If I ran a outbound sales team, this would not be part of my strategy. This doesn't mean, there would be Zero cold calls. A strategic cold call to a smaller, targeted list as part of a larger sequence (must leave a vm), or to gather information can be a tactic in a broader play. A good email or ad can still grab me, but cold callers have 0 chance.

I totally agree. Phones are largely for established relationships, or at least for people expecting to hear from you. As you said, it needs to be part of a broader strategy.
