In Metrology, the SI unit for temperature is the Kelvin. In this feature join Gertrude Nthongo, a Metrology Officer at the Kenya Bureau of Standards Metrology temperature lab as she shares more about the world of calibration.

My name is Gertrude Muki. A working metrology laboratory where we realize the SI unit of temperature, which is Kelvin. I did. Baca lazim technology intico. In the year 2015, in February, in metrology we do calibration in various industries, that is medical sector. In Reside in Manfred Serien in. Food processing industries. So we measure in all those fields. In doing calibration, you think of mythology at all. And then you ask yourself, we we like like falls for some of us, we like not even some like everyone would not like to keep on going to the market and they want to preserve their food in their fridges. Are these fridges? Think of the temperatures inside these fridges for them to maintain that food or rather to preserve that. Would you need to maintain them in certain temperatures? So in this measurement of temperature like a a fridge will operate at a certain temperatures. So that is a good example of metrology we offer in metrology and calibration. You're so do trainings. We also do something called interlaboratory comparison, which is very key when it comes to stress, stability of measurement and also when we need accreditation. So it is a good rule, peace in the laboratory calibration because you are trying to gauge yourself or rather you are trying to leverage yourself with other enemies. That is National Metrology Institute and know your capabilities when it comes to calibration. I remember very well when I was employed in General standard in the year 2015 when I was very young, fresh from the college. Uh, I was assigned to Mount Kenya region with one task that is setting up a regional calibration lab. And it was the 4th regional calibration lab in metrology to be established. And here is this young lady just very fresh and you're walking into this world of metrology to set up our calibration lab, we had to do marketing of this service of this new service. So that made meeting new client across the industries. Yeah, there was this memorable day when we impact on this business of marketing this service. So we I was accompanied by quality assurance officer. So we went into one of them milling flour milling company. After a brief introduction, the client amused by the Roland playing and also the youthful appearance. He posed this question to the to my colleague who stand out of my league college give you all loved looking back at my journey and carbs and the many years I have worked in cabs. This years have molded me to the professional I am and I'm proudly kept. My name is Gertrude Mukai and I'm proudly kids.
I remember meeting Gertrude at my first place of employment within Meru county. This young lady was very professional and I just liked how she handled the calibration process with a keen eye to every decimal. Keep soaring @Gertrude Nthongo Good job.
