The Super Bowl is indeed sustainable, Super Sustainable! This year’s Super Bowl is being played at the recently constructed Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. All the electricity to power the venue is supplied by Nevada-sourced solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal resources. That’s just part of the story, the venue was certified as ‘LEED Gold in 2023’. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building certification program used worldwide. The stadium incorporates several energy efficiency technologies, including a state-of-the-art chiller plant, high efficiency air handling units, energy optimizing lighting (LEDs), and an energy efficient lighting control system. The Stadium’s engineering team is constantly monitoring electrical loads (in real-time) and reviewing energy usage.
