The new chief of New Zealand’s Army was greeted with a haka 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿 The traditional Māori war dance was performed by personnel from the country’s Defence Force as Major General Rose King arrived at their headquarters... 😂 😂 Source: https://lnkd.in/g5TuJfRZ Watch 📹 here 👇👇
Sort of done with the Haka - it’s lost its way - if that was me, I’d be asking for the MATSTAT brief so we can get going
The people who laugh just show their cultural insensitivity and illiteracy. Native cultures should be preserved and appreciated, not ridiculed because you don't understand it
When people ask me what does it mean to Amplify one’s spirit, I think about the Haka.
I love this
I find this interesting when I see it. I am neither Māori or in New Zealand, or in the New Zealand Army. It does not harm me in any way. So, why would someone choose to comment negatively? This planet has many rich traditions that make us what and who we are.
you called a staff meeting with no snacks
Looks like one of my staff meetings…
Take care of Maori people first and then do this drama ...
I Will be hated for this, but I see too much Haka lately. I know nothing about new Zealand but if I based my opinions on internet, I would expect that even when visiting a toilet I would be greeted with lady doing Haka.

3wI attended school in New Zealand and learned the haka under a teacher who was Moari. More recently, my father, along with other members of the US military who helped with the Air New Zealand Erabus crash recovery efforts, was honored at the New Zealand embassy in Washington. This contingent was greeted with a haka. The haka is still very much alive today. Yes, it can be intimidating, but when done to honor and as a greeting, it’s hard not to appreciate the authenticity and effort. That’s how I’ve always taken it.
