A recent multicenter retrospective study has defined crucial lymph node resection thresholds for pancreatic cancer originating from intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN). The study found that resecting at least 20 lymph nodes can notably enhance survival outcomes in patients, with optimal numbers specified for various surgical procedures: 20 for pancreatoduodenectomy, 23 for distal pancreatectomy, and 25 for total pancreatectomy. These findings, published in Annals of Surgery, could refine surgical guidelines and improve prognostic accuracy in pancreatic cancer treatment. Prior studies often suggested lower thresholds; this data emphasizes a higher benchmark for effective nodal analysis. I am thrilled to announce the publication of our latest article titled "Application of Radiomics for Preoperative Prediction of Lymph Node Metastasis in Colorectal Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis" in the International Journal of Surgery, ranked 2/212 Surgery journals. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we evaluated the performance of radiomics models in predicting lymph node metastasis (LNM) in colorectal cancer patients. Our analysis revealed that radiomics models achieved a pooled area under the curve (AUC) of 0.814 (95% CI: 0.78–0.85), demonstrating robust diagnostic precision in predicting LNM. Our findings underscore the promise of integrating radiomics into clinical practice, aiming to optimize treatment decisions and improve outcomes for colorectal cancer patients. 🔗You can access the full article here : https://lnkd.in/dike5VaM #Radiomics #ColorectalCancer #ArtificialIntelligence #LymphNodeMetastasis #SystematicReview #MetaAnalysis

Dr. Kelley Wood was invited to present the latest ReVital research at the annual ASCO conference. In this study that included over 600 women with breast cancer who attended #PhysicalTherapy or #OccupationalTherapy services, starting rehab before breast cancer surgery was associated with less disability and better quality of life outcomes after surgery. Those starting rehab after surgery also improved significantly. These findings support the integration of rehab services in routine oncology care for patients receiving breast cancer surgery. Advanced ovarian cancer patients who receive robotic surgery benefit from improved recovery, which could allow them to start chemotherapy and the journey to recovery sooner, a new study has found. The study, MIRRORS, is an initial clinical study to assess the feasibility of a larger-scale trial, and has the potential to greatly improve recovery and quality of life for women having surgery for advanced ovarian cancer following initial chemotherapy. Funded by women’s cancer charity GRACE, it was led by #RoyalSurrey’s specialist gynaecological oncology surgeons Christina Uwins and Simon Butler-Manuel. Miss Uwins said: “Robotic surgery allows surgeons to perform long complex procedures though tiny cuts in the abdomen. It’s very promising that the findings of this feasibility study show that robotic surgery has the potential to significantly improve the recovery and quality of life for women undergoing this surgery.” Read more: https://ow.ly/JvyF50Rb9mb
