S&M expenditures -100 bps YoY More and more CEOs will take the Elon Musk X approach if they can resonate and be authentic and just go directly to social media to promote. Marc went "active" on social posts recently and there is no better voice to promote a story than a founder/CEO.

I was at Salesforce in 2018 when there were 18K employees and total revenue was about $10B before Tab, Slack, Mule, Dataroma, and a few more... It was a wild ride for about 5 years I was there. Data hygiene and connectivity are a huge problem and need to be addressed so all the clouds above can provide data to the bots and decisions and be made. If your team wants to deploy Agents, A.I. or machine learning lets get data hygiene, enterprise identity, and connectivity set up 1st so the Agents, Bots, etc... can provide fantastic customer journeys and amazing experiences.

Salesforce sent shockwaves through the market last month. They missed revenue expectations for Q1. $9.13bn vs $9.17bn.. Many interpreted this as saturation in B2B software. How could this growth machine be slowing to 'only' 11% revenue growth YoY? What's true → Buyer budgets are down. Price competition is up. What's not true → This it not the end of B2B Saas growth. Differentiation becomes key What's next → Salesforce will now likely explore new higher-growth markets in addition to its core offer Some were surprised that growth is slowing for this 25-yr old business. I see a big moat in the brand and switching costs (tech, process, skills), away from their platform. I salute those going up against SF to create a better colleague experience. I suspect those that will be successful will complement, or find categories SF are less likely to operate in.

Friday Thought Provoker ... 🧠 🧠 This week I witnessed some irony that even Alanis Morissette would be proud of. You all remember that 1996 Morissette hit "Isn't it ironic" right? The real irony was that most of things she sang about in that song were not irony at all. This week we saw somewhat of a repeat. Salesforce has started to really push its new set of Agentforce features. The software is touted as delivering real value through the creation of agents .... Personal shopper agents, Service agents and .... Sales agents. These agents are designed to automate processes and lower the need for human resources. So, here is the irony. Salesforce CEO, Marc Benioff, this week announced the organisation was hiring 1,000 people to sell the product. Wait .... You are hiring people to sell a product that is supposed to automate sales?
