The topic of whether artificial intelligence (AI) can read minds has been a subject of widespread debate lately. The debate revolves around the relationship between syntax and semantics, which are two sides of the same coin. A recent study conducted at UT has made some progress in mapping words (semantic) to brain activity (semantic). However, we cannot necessarily infer from this that it's possible to map brain activity to syntax. Syntax involves a mind that is not measurable because it lies outside space and time. On the other hand, semantics are measurable because they lie within spacetime. The ultimate question is whether we can map the mind (nonlocal, waves, energy) to spacetime (local, particles). However, Heisenberg's uncertainty principle states that if the position of a particle in spacetime is precisely defined, the uncertainty about its momentum (a quantity outside space and time) is infinite. In other words, in the domain of the mind (syntax, wave functions), there are infinite potential "meanings," whereas in the domain of semantics, there are only a few composable actualizations (syntax, collapse of wave functions). Can we construct a nonlocal world from a local word? Can AI map between syntax and semantic words? Based on Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, achieving this is not possible. Perhaps AI experts can further reflect on this.

This is MINDBLOWING 🤯 A paper out of Stanford University shows that it's possible to get real, human personalities into generative agents, who then live their lives in simulated environments. They were able to test and prove that those agents had the same thoughts and personalities 85% as accurately as their human counterparts. So what does it all mean? I break it all down in the full video on YouTube 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/g-9RqgF5
