💸 Unconditional cash transfers - obvious or revolutionary? What an amazing event hosted by our charity partner Cool Earth Inspirational words from the panel on the impact and importance of empowering impoverished communities through no-strings-attached direct cash transfers. These pilots have already had a significant impact on: ☀ Climate: Reducing deforestation by empowering local stewardship 🌿 Biodiversity: Protecting ecosystems that are home to countless species 🙌 People: Supporting livelihoods and strengthening community resilience This is particularly timely given Cool Earth's connection with Peru, who as a country have declared a state of emergency due to widespread wildfires in the Amazon. Already, 13.4 million acres - an area larger than Denmark has been destroyed. If you are able to give, know it's making a huge difference. #coolearth #nostringscashtransfers #climateaction

As Earth Week 2024 wraps up, consider making a small donation to https://lnkd.in/gKZszrUz. https://lnkd.in/gHd98BS8. "Since the beginning of the 20th century, the world’s forests have lost about 20% of their coverage, about 7.3 million hectares (18 million acres) of forest are lost every year, and roughly half of Earth’s tropical forests have already been cleared. The Canopy Project works with global partners to reforest areas in dire need of rehabilitation, including areas with some of the world’s communities most at-risk from climate change and environmental degradation, including vital tree planting in the wake of environmental disasters. Since 2010, EARTHDAY.ORG™ has planted tens of millions of trees with The Canopy Project. With your help we can continue this crucial work and strengthen communities worldwide." Thank You 🌱 #earthday #earthweek #climatechange

Forests support our planet every day, not just Earth Day!🌳🌍 Healthy forests provide: 🥭Food 💊Medicine 🪵Wood 🧑🌾Employment The benefits to people, nature and climate are vast and go far beyond that. 2023 saw dramatic reductions in primary forest loss, showcasing that political leadership and strong policies work. But the story is not consistent around the world. Giving Tuesday is here, offering an opportunity to contribute to causes that create lasting change. This year, we’re focusing on reforestation—a powerful way to invest in the health of our planet and future generations. Organizations like One Tree Planted and Tree Canada are leading the charge, planting trees in areas impacted by deforestation and environmental degradation. These newly-planted trees improve air quality, provide habitats for wildlife, support biodiversity, and help combat climate change. For businesses, educators, and individuals alike, contributing to reforestation aligns with goals for sustainability and environmental responsibility. It’s an actionable step that shows our collective commitment to building a better future. On this Giving Tuesday, we encourage you to donate to One Tree Planted or Tree Canada and take part in a global movement to give back to the Earth. Let’s grow something meaningful together! #givingtuesday #reforestation #onetreeplanted #treecanada #sustainability #climateaction

Yaaah…..🌴🪴🍀🌱 On our list of the 50 communities to benefit from our upcoming tree-planting project, Re-afforesting Freetown City, we have Regent. This community, located about six miles east of Freetown, has about 22,000 inhabitants, according to research. Still, it is one of the most vulnerable communities to climate change in Sierra Leone. The August 14th (2017) mudslide which claimed over 500 lives and hundreds displaced, not only proved the community’s exposure to climate change but also why there is a crucial need to address this crisis. Besides planting 200 trees, we hope to sensitize at 200 people about deforestation, reforestation and afforestation. Thank you Global Greengrants Fund, The Nature Conservancy and National Geographic Society for their financial support in bringing our tree-planting to life. #climateaction #treeplanting #GGF #emissions #natgeo #TNC

They hear the TV broadcast about our planet's tipping points and watch as a gray cloud of smoke covers their city. They watch stranded polar bears on blocks of ice melting into the ocean. They know to turn off the water when they brush their teeth. But at six, seven, eight years old, they may already wonder, “Is any of it enough?” Having conversations about climate change with children can be difficult at best and heartbreaking at worst. But they are conversations worth having. So, we gathered tips to plant seeds of climate hope this Earth Day. Share this with your friends, family, and educators so we can create a better, greener, and safer future for our children. 🌎 🌱 Photo credits: 📸 Sinal do Vale 📸 Sadhana Forest 📸 Iracambi Rainforest Research and Conservation 📸 Instituto de la Naturaleza y la Sociedad de Oaxaca #EarthDay #Recycle #ProtectTheEnvironment #ClimateAction #SustainableLiving #CleanEnergy #Nonprofit #EarthMonth

In this video, Daniel Mamai shares what it was like before and after the #Selenkay Conservancy was created. By creating a #safe space for #wildlife to return, #conservancies are creating more jobs, protecting #nature and helping to combat #biodiversity loss in areas that would otherwise be lost to #climate change.
