Kelly Hawke Baxter’s Post

This Giving Tuesday, I am supporting Tostan Canada, a high impact international NGO that is near to my heart, and which I have had the priviIege of co-chairing for the past five years. I support Tostan because it empowers people to make their own choices, giving women and youth a voice in decision-making and fostering social cohesion. These changes are laying the foundation for lasting social and economic progress. Tostan’s approach is transforming lives — especially for women and girls — by giving them the tools to lead and succeed sustainably. I have just returned from visiting Tostan villages in The Gambia. I wish I could fully capture in words the feeling of visiting a Tostan village. To see the entire village – women and men, adults and youth – all working together to achieve a shared vision, feeling empowered with the knowledge and skills to lead their own development, to make informed decisions, and to feel like change is indeed possible – is extremely moving and inspiring.  I have seen this time and time again in Tostan villages in West Africa. The change is transformational. And the impact is sustainable. While Africa is not on everyone’s list of priorities, I am advocating on their behalf. If we don’t stand up for the most marginalized women and girls, who will? I am supporting Tostan on Giving Tuesday. I invite you to join me. #dignityforall DONATION LINK: https://lnkd.in/eZZfmq_d
