But. You can't scale it. You can't control it. I built my business through networking and referral back in 2018 - it was a great way to begin. But if you can't attract clients and communicate your value without having someone personally vouch for you , then you'll always be in uncertain times. Your ability to communicate your offering, your value and to handle objections and questions is a vital skill for the long term success of your business. I get lots of people who approach me either by direct messaging or email offering to get me ’30 appointments with potential clients every week’. It’s clear that they haven’t done their homework as the business simply doesn’t have the bandwidth to deal with 30 appointments a week – or to add lots of clients. There’s an assumption that all businesses are chasing massive growth. But we aren’t. Would we be ready to take on a new client? Yes, but only if they’re a good fit so we both enjoy the experience of working together and my team of two don’t hate me for inflicting someone who doesn’t appreciate us on them! Every single one of my clients has come to me as a result of networking – either offline or online. Our relationships are built on mutual respect and added value – and that’s just perfect.
