Last month, the Dealfront team gathered for our annual "Team Week". Now, before I get into a post about it, I just want to shout out Patrick Gies and Carsten Scheunemann for the amazing work at the event to capture literally every moment in photo and/or video form, and then post event to provide us edited versions of everything. Unreal work, gentlemen! Thank you 🙏❤️ Ok, so about the event. I love these moments as they give us a chance to collaborate and celebrate together. Here's one thing that maybe not everyone is thinking of but means a lot to me: Honestly, I didn't ever think I needed to see our CEO dressed in boxing robes and entering an event to the Rocky music...but I kind of did. 🤔🥊 Why? Leading from the front matters. I've worked in lots of companies where the CEO is unobtainable. They don't know anyones name unless they've got a "C" at the start of their job title. They're unlikely to engage you, ever, except at these kind of events where they call you their "family" and then go back off to the Executive Table hidden away from everyone else. It's awesome to have a CEO who is the kind of guy that walks around in his Super Mario jumper at Christmas parties, stops for a chat if he walks past you even if he's totally slammed, shares totally random ideas and is happy to hear other peoples opinions on them, and is happy to just have some fun with the rest of us to lift us up. You can see it in this video. It's people just having fun and enjoying themselves. And behind closed doors, even when we get frustrated and want to box each other for 12-rounds, we hug it out at the end and hold each others arms up in victory. This is how work should be. "Neil, how do you come up with the ideas for your digital platforms and how do you make it?" This is a great question and one I've been meaning to post the answer to for a long time. Since 2012 I have been working with my business partner on my apps company, Steve. He's not only a great guy, but a genius coder too. We talk everyday and have done for 12 years. We just get each other - even though we are very different people. Well..apart from...we are both on a mission to create something unique, useful and better than the competition. It's our passion and belief that nothing is beyond us and we will reach our goal one day. My specific job is to identify opportunities and come up with ideas, then develop those ideas into a full flow platforms - highlighting the potential pitfalls and features. I also create the names of the apps, bring together the branding and the UI. Steve then takes this from me and starts the coding process. This has become a lot smoother over the years as we have an awesome framework with CrowdApps - which has, and continues to, bring a cohesive look and feel to all of our platforms new and old. I then work with Steve to test everything - going through every single process to sniff out errors and bugs - this can take weeks. Together we patch these and polish the product - and think about how to improve it. We often don't agree - and that's healthy. Why should I or Steve know 100% what is right? We compromise and develop new branches of thought which spawn even better ideas. This relationship is rare and is one I cherish. Just look at what we've created together over 12 years...
