The market for THC drinks is exploding, and in the only pocket of the country without legalized recreational cannabis, it's of little surprise the Southeast represents a huge market for these beverages derived from hemp.
In the last couple of years, numerous entrepreneurs and business owners across the region have jumped into the game with their own beverage lines. Today we feature five of them from Scofflaw Beverage Co., Resident Culture Brewing Company, Snapdragon Hemp, Easy Hemp Co., and Nine Dot (created by Coastal Green Wellness). These alcohol-alternatives with refreshing fruit flavors and little to no calories are ones to watch. I think the casual dismissal of 10mg being too strong is a part of why a sole focus on pre-packaged beverages is flawed.
Personally, I need a 50mg drink to feel a cannabev. Anything lower and I may as well be drinking a can of pop. With the price gap between a pop and a cannabis beverage, if i'm not going to feel an effect I'll just be buying a standard pop.
This is why I don't drink light beer, I have to drink way too much to feel an effect.. so if light beer is my only option, I usually choose not to drink. Why am I drinking?
When we compare booze to beer we dont say that 40% alc is too strong against the 5% beer. People still do shots. A lot of them.
This is why I believe in a service standard with cannabis where the bartender can directly infuse your drinks (mocktails), either giving 2mg or 10mg per drink as desired by the patron. Same drink, different doses.
Compare deeper with alcohol service at a standard bar and we will see a healthy range of made-to-order beverages from high alcohol percentage liquor and pre-packaged lower percentage beverages.
As we push forward into cannabis beverage services we need to find a way to cater both to the light consumer with lower tolerance, and to the heavy consumer with that high tolerance. There has to be a place for the light beer drinker and for that deviant that needs their double whiskey neat. Don't disregard the deviants!
There is not a single cannabis beverage in the Colorado market that works for consumption lounge models aimed at mass appeal.
They are all too strong (10MG is too much for a single serving), don’t taste good, and there is no mixer options like alcohol.
We need a cannabis based alcohol replacement, seltzers with 2.5MG, and other social beverages!
Prove me wrong! Or let our team at Cirrus Social Club help develop a winning product for this style of service.
We need it!
