Given Kanda Consulting’s extensive work in the regions, it was fantastic to attend yesterday’s Eastern Powerhouse Conference in Cambridge on how to supercharge growth in the East of England, rising above national politics and focusing on how to deliver generational growth for the region. The conference was an opportunity for business leaders and politicians from across the East to come together to discuss the opportunities for growth to help local communities thrive. The event covered the unique opportunities and challenges for the East, how the region can attract foreign direct investment into key growth sectors such as science and technology, whilst improving infrastructure. The conference was filled with thought-provoking discussions, insights and highlighted opportunities for policy change. Rt Hon. Chloe Smith MP, former Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology stressed the importance of working together to address the challenges within the planning system to unlock growth and deliver greater prosperity. George Freeman MP explored how increased powers for the region could allow greater private investment for major infrastructure projects, as well as the need to communicate long-term development plans to bring together the supply chains and skills necessary to promote regional growth. Last week, ELTI's Secretary-General, Helmut von Glasenapp represented our organization at the Belgian Presidency Conference on 'Unlocking Social Conditionality'. Alongside an esteemed panel, he emphasized the critical need for flexibility in addressing various investment dimensions and their integration into investment strategies. It was inspiring to discuss how public investors, including Promotional Banks and Institutions, serve as invaluable mediators in long-term investing, while also prioritizing social and environmental principles. Their role is pivotal in ensuring a balanced approach to investment, aligning with the broader goals set by policymakers. Moving forward, we believe that stronger cooperation between public investors, adhering to principles outlined by policymakers, and private investors is essential for fostering sustainable growth and development ! On the panel: Paul Tang, Thierry Philipponnat, Romina Boarini, Ludovic Voet, Valeria Ronzitti

Center for Latin America Convergence Frequently highlighting the factors fuelling a nation's growth and development may appear superfluous. Nevertheless, the communication narrative, saturated with ideological and political elements, frequently tries, albeit unsuccessfully, to downplay the pivotal role of the private sector. In this context, Latin America stands out as a jewel poised to draw investments and solidify its position as a global economic powerhouse. Despite enduring challenges, its future seems limitless.

In a democratic world, we often celebrate the power of activism—the freedom to speak, advocate, and challenge the status quo. While this is crucial and must be safeguarded, we at Nikola Research Labs and Innovation Hub believe it’s time to take things further. It’s time to amplify another equally powerful but overlooked right: the Right to Initiative— As inscribed in the constitutional book, the right to enterprise. The right to innovate, create, and build enterprises that drive transformation and solve problems. At Nikola Research, we see this right as a superpower, one that holds the key to unlocking Africa’s potential. Our mission is to empower Africa’s future leaders to take their future into their own hands and embrace their ability to take initiative, turning ideas into tangible solutions that not only solve pressing challenges but also redefine what’s possible. Here at Nikola, we believe in the power of collaboration and the limitless potential of young minds to shape the future. By bridging the gap between research and real-world application, we are building a dynamic platform where visionaries can ideate, innovate, and create solutions that make lasting impacts—locally and globally.
